Mine is The Wallpaper and the Deathless Fox 🤭 Ok today I want to talk about 🦁The Lion and the Deathless Dark by @carissabroadbentbooks It was very different from the other books happening in that universe because the FMC and MMC both are morally grey! Kyrene is a bounty hunter with a blessed blade and she is meant to mete out justice but she is more of a self serving kind! She won’t hesitate to let people die if she thinks there is no hope for them. And yet… she is very protective of her friends and she can tell that « she is no hero » she will have a hell of a character growth! One thing you can say about her is that she is full of rage. She meets the Blood Vampire Prince Septimus who will hire her to kill the Gods and Niaxa. When you learn what Septimus did in the past you will be flabbergasted ! And horrified! He certainly qualifies as morally grey! And yet I understood his motives. Add to this a snarky blessed blade and tons of fights, desperate moments and twists and you have a captivating romantasy that ends on a HUGE cliffhanger! ‼️Favorite book of August‼️ 💬What’s been your fav ‼️Favorite book of August‼️ 💬What’s been your favorite book of August so far? Mine is The Witch Below the Dreaming Wood by HG Parry without a single doubt! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I discovered H.G. Parry with The Last Faerie Door and was so smitten that when @orbitbooks_uk offered me a copy of The Witch Below the Dreaming Wood, I accepted without even glancing at the blurb.🤭 I’m so glad I did. Because it’s an Arthurian retelling, and my romantic soul has always loved the story of King Arthur and Merlin. Which is, come to think of it, completely at odds with my hatred of love triangles. But I blame Disney: the animated film never really showed us Guinevere, just Arthur and Merlin gallivanting about, and that’s partly what this book is about too. The focus rests more on Merlyn and Arthur’s relationship than on Lancelot and Guinevere, even though they do play a crucial role in the fall of Camelot. Did I love the book? Immensely. Is the writing good? Very good. Is it atmospheric? Enormously so: think old manor, clifftops, and foggy woods. The plot moves back and forth between past and present, Nimue’s point of view in the legendary past and Elie’s in WWII UK I have a longer review on the blog but promise you this: 👉🏻 for a few hours, you will forget your worries entirely. You will be immersed in other times and other places, ensconced in a library with helpful mice or flying above the lands of Camelot. H.G.
