Sorry if I didn’t reply to comemnt or blog hopped yet but I had a three days migraine from Wednesday and that left me completely empty.
Working with a migraine is truly exhausting and I had no energy left nor will to look any longer than necessary at a screen!
Said migraine is the consequence of a heatwave insuring we had bad nights, my dog had bad nights, we went from hot as hell outside to freezing cold in building with AC and a blast of hot wind thanks to the fan in my living room.
Let me tell you that us Belgian are not made for such heat.
Few people are I guess but in some countries it’s the norm and they are probably better equiped than we are.
And they say the heat will be back in the second part of the coming week.
Oh well…
What else happened this week?
Oh yes! I got a bonus at work and I didn’t expect it at all! I had no idea I would get one and it’s when I looked at my bank balance that I realized it!
After thanking my boss, I promptly went to buy new hiking shoes (mine needed to be replaced for some time) and bought two pairs of sandals (also in need of replacement).
So now I am all set and I can hike or face the heat with feet properly dressed LOL.
With the heat I also asked my boss if it was OK if I worked at our local office the day I was meant to homework (they have AC and it was 30° celsius in my house). He agreed! And the colleagues there were so happy to see me (long time no see) that they asked why I couldn’t work locally every day (I wish). That’s always nice to see that people missed you!
So all in all, migraine and heatwave aside, this was a rewarding week.

Sorry to hear about your migraine, Sophie, but yay for being able to work in an air-conditioned office! Hope you get a break in the heat soon.
We did this week but it’s soaring up again. Sigh
The heatwave has been unbearable! I’m not made for this either :) I’m glad we got at least a few cool days just now…

Irh.. i have heatwaves. By the sounds of it, sounds like you got a heat fatigue! (Short of a heat stroke). I do them fairly often, as my antidepressants im taking do make my body overheat faster. I am prone to migraines but those.. they are no joke! hope you feel better soon!

We are used to warm temps in the summer, but I hate the AC, so when it gets to hot even for me to go out, it is hard. I am sorry you were suffering. My daughter gets migraines and I know how miserable they make her.
AC is hard for me too Kimberly. I will use it to lessen the temperature of a room before going to bed nd then turn it off.
Fun you got to see co-workers and that they missed you and you got to get out of the heat. It’s hot everywhere this year. We are having the late afternoon thunderstorms this week again but the past week was more normal – hot but low humidity. I hope you feel better. My daughter had a migraine 31 out of 31 days last May and 25/31 last July so I am familiar with it. Her new medication is working great this year. Stay cool!

My sister was actually with her boyfriend in Belgium last week for his birthday! He is Scottish and they live in Scotland, so they get to do those awesome trips all the time that those of us in the US must plan more for. Sorry about the migraine, heat is not fun! She mentioned it was much warmer there than it usually was? And her Scottish boyfriend did not do well in the heat. It is hot here too, but I love my cold AC to keep me from sweating. I hope you’re able to have a good week, and I read your review of the Devney Perry book, I enjoyed it as well!

I think Scottish and Belgian people should fare the same with the heat
Sorry about the migraine! That is rough. The heat attacks the body in all sorts of different ways, doesn’t it! Hopefully you guys get some relief soon. We are ramping up for more heat this week but its pretty typical for July in southern Ohio (35 C or 95 F). We have AC everywhere though, so the only time we have to suffer is when I’m outside with the dogs (in the shade), or walking to/from the car when going places with AC.
I wish we had AC too Samantha! Or at least a pool.
They can clone a sheep, why can’t they find some relief for migraine sufferers? I was on a call with my interim manager who lives in Arizona (it’s like 115 every day), and I was crying about 103. I told him what you said, we are not built for this. Stay cool!
And why can’t they find a way to catch the excess of carbon we send in the atmosphere and that is disturbing our climate Sam???
It’s hot like this every summer here. I remember being in Germany in 1990. It was a “heatwave” there (80s) and over 100 in NJ. These temperatures are not unusual where I live, but I hate summer.
I get why you’d hate summer then Sam!
Migraines are the worst, and yes, heat is a big trigger. Congrats on your bonus and new shoes! It’s so funny, I bought two new pair of sandals yesterday because they were half price (no bonus for me, lol)
