Hi friends,

Today is Sunday, time to look back in the rearview mirror and talk about my week in and out of the blog. As usual I am linking up to the Sunday Post hosted for years by Kimberly @caffeinatedreviewer .

First let me say that this will be an abridged version of my usual Sunday Post as it’s very late here!!!

In my private life

Today was the first time since months that we got to meet with friends!

We invited them for tea time on the condition that the weather had to be sunny and warm to host them outside with the proper social distance. And the weather was perfect!

So we spent a delightful afternoon seeing each other and catching up.

It was just weird to greet them without hug or kiss nor even handshake. It feels …awkward. But you’ve got to do what’s necessarey for everyone’s health!

I am still homeworking for one more week and then, I have a week off. The plan is to go back to the office some days of the week every two weeks right after but we’ll see as the schools have reopened now and we fear another COVID wave.

This week I got an excellent news for the future of one of my kids. I can’t give more details let’s just say that it was something awaited for years and 2020 did owed us that at least!

My daughter will be back from Bretagne (in France) by the end of next week and will have to get tested for COVID (what with the orange zone there). It will be a transition weekend as she’ll be back in her dorm and begin the new year at uni on Monday. Not knowing if she is positive to COVID or not, I foresee a strange dance of us wearing mask within the house, me sanitizing the door handles and the bathroom until she is moved into her dorm.

This month has been an excellent reading month! Only 9 books but so many excellent ones and I have what will be my best read of 2020 (maybe even the best read for next year).

So this month’s winners are:

Shadow of Night and The Book of Life by Deborah Harkness (both 5 stars)

And the best book I have read this year is The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune (a delight!)

I haven’t been consistent with blogging. I post a lot at the beginning of the week until Thursday then I have this “hole” at the end of the week. I made peace with this as I am very active on Instagram, make custom funko pops and also, just wanted to read a lot more.

As this is a hobby and not my job, I dictate what happens here and I’d better be happy with it (Do you hear me guilt? No more! 😀 )

That’s it for this week! Sorry hopefully more next week but I am not even sure as I’ll have a mad weekend of moving the kids back to uni!

I will now go visit as many blogs as I can before going to bed! Have a wonderful week.

Thanks for reading

Sophie

  1. So glad you got to meet with friends and that you’ve had some good news!

My internet has been out for 2 days and this week has been stressful and felt really rushed so I’m looking forward to some relaxing this weekend!!

  2. I’m with you on posting whenever you can/feel like it. I’m so tired trying to balance everything at the moment and I’ve pretty much stopped reading… Actually, that’s not quite right. I’ve got about 6 books in various stages of completion, I just can’t focus on anything for more than a chapter or two to actually finish one! 🙁

I hope things go smoothly with your daughter / covid test etc. That sounds like it’ll be a stressful week!
Summer was lovely here but our cases are now (probably unsurprisingly) rising and they’ve just made it illegal for groups to meet indoors or outdoors of more than 6 people (irrespective of age) in an attempt to clamp down on the surge. 🙁

  3. That’s wonderful that you were able to have a visit with friends. Maybe not in the same way as before, but we do what we have to do these days. I hope the return to work goes well. My company has been talking about us returning in October but I’m not sure. Now that school is back in I expect the numbers to start to rise again.

  4. Yay for getting to meet with friends in person. That sounds wonderful right now as we still haven’t really been able to do that here. I hope that your daughter’s COVID test will be negative and that everything goes smoothly moving her into her dorm. And don’t feel guilty about your blogging or you’ll make me feel guility since I’ve have the same hole in my schedule lately, haha!

  5. Don’t be guilty – do what you need to do! Yes we are still staying home and being careful. It is not as good here in the US and without a consistent strategy it won’t be. Schools that have opened it hasn’t gone very well. I’m glad you were able to have some time with friends.

  6. Schools reopened here and we are already seeing a spike in new cases. I guess that’s to be expected but it is troubling. Glad you were able to spend time with your friends. And you have me very curious about the great news for your son!

  7. Being able to meet again with friends is indeed wonderful – even if we have to keep our distance: just the pure joy of speaking face to face (or should I say “mask to mask”? 😀 ) makes up for the sadness of the past months…

  8. How great that you could spend time with friends! We aren’t there yet, but we do get to socialize with other residents if socially distanced, so that is an improvement.

Hope all works out for your daughter.

I like the look of The House in the Cerulean Sea.

Enjoy your week, and thanks for visiting my blog.

  9. I’m delighted that you were able to meet up with friends, Sophie – but I’m with you… It makes it so hard when you cannot hug anyone! And quite right, too! Blogging is supposed to be FUN – so guiltfree it is:)). I’ve heard lots of good things about the T.J. Klune book – I must get hold of it! Thank you for swinging by and I hope you have a lovely week.

  10. So happy you were able to spend time with friends, Sophie. We did also, but you’re right about the no hugging or shaking hands thing – it’s weird. Hope your daugher had a fantastic trip!

  11. Nice that you got to see some friends. And congrats on the good news! Nice too that you’ll be able to see your daughter- hoping you get good news on the virus test and have a wonderful visit!

I’m the same way with blogging. The early part of the week definitely seems more active to me. Later in the week things slide a bit… 🙂

  12. I am so happy you were able to get together with your friends….this whole social distancing is a struggle right? As human beings we need touch so its just something we are all battling. But hopefully this will end soon and life will be back to normal again.

  13. YEAH! So glad to hear everything worked out and your were able to visit with your friends. It’s a bit stressful relying on the weather, but sometimes things go our way. Like you said, 2020 owes you. Hooray for good news too! We all need some of that these days. I hope you daughter’s transition back goes well, and that everyone is safe and healthy

  14. Nice to get some time out with friends. Hope your daughter tests negative so you won’t have to worry while she’s home. Have a great week, Sophie. 🙂

  15. It’s lovely when the weather cooperates to enjoy friends visiting, and doing so in the garden. That must have helped everyone’s mental health, though the thought of going back into the office, with others, must be stressful. I hope you enjoy your week off before that happens, and also, hoping your daughter is okay after her trip. Take care, Sophie! ❤️
