Today is Sunday time to look back in the rearview mirror and talk about my week .Β I am linking up to the Sunday Post hosted for years byΒ Kimberly@caffeinatedreviewerΒ .Β

Also as October ended I will summarize my reading month and give you my best reads of October!

In my private life

Happy Sunday!

This week was a holiday week for me and I spent it:

-sleeping;

-having a migraine for three days (not fun hence no blogging or blog hopping);

-visiting a doctor for my tendinitis (right arm);

-changing my tires (winter is coming…but not too fast I hope nor too harsh);

-going to the hairdresser (same cut to her despair and my delight);

-reassuring my mom who is getting older and is feeling low (“I have pain in my leg/hip and I can only walk 10 km now.” well mom, be happy that at 82 you are still independant, fiesty, full of energy and only now begin to have some pain here and there in your body (see tendinitis above and I am 30 years younger!));

-making a new background for my pictures on Instagram (yes, yet another one as the red one will be used here and there only);

-painting some book edges (work in progress, more next Sunday).

That’s it in a nutshell!

Beware of the Husband is still waiting to have one last exam in three weeks to be convinced that there is nothing wrong with his heart and in the meantime, we try to wrestle his anxiety. That’s not always easy…

And as it’s becoming tradition now, I will leave you with two funny reels of the week. I hope you’ll enjoy!

And this one is a special for my kids who are always embarrassed when I do some reels on Instagram (“No, she is not my mom! I don’t know her!”)

October wrap-up (click on the graphic to read the post)

October has been an exceptional reading month with 16 books read! I didn’t post a review for every of them but I had several favorites and the list is… long as I have six winners!

First a psycholigical thriller with Dark Room Etiquette by Robin Roe (sorry for those who were waiting for the live, Robin and her mom had some health problems and that couldn’t happen).

Then a reread that was better than the first read! It Ends with Us by Colleen Hoover went from 5 stars to 6 stars!

A very very satisfying ending to one of my favorite series with witches: The Golden Enclaves by Naomi Novik!

This one was a very good surprise! I got it in my Fairyloot box and it was atmospheric, compelling, well written! Belladonna by Adalyn Grace.

I thought The Ballad of Never After was the conclusion to a favorite duology but when I read the last page, I prayed for a third book because…noooo! And days after, Stephanie Garber announced that there will be a third book! Pfew!

This one is a brilliant, cutting , sarcastic and totally unexpected story from RF Kuang! It will be published in 2023 but please, read it! So far Rebecca had only published fantasy so Yellowface came as a surprise being contemporary but what a book!

And this one might be my favorite this month. It’s a BIG CRUSH! It’s tender, bittersweet, mature, charming… everything! It also tackles hard topics like being gay in the UK in the seventies where it was illegal until 1967… It also has an old main character (64) but… please READ IT! I think Matt Caine won a forever reader in me! The Secret Life of Albert Entwistle deserves more hype.

That’s it! Thanks for reading!

  1. Good news about the hubby’s heart. Anxiety can be frightening too. Hope he finds some ways to manage it. It’s a bummer to age, but your mom sounds like she’s in good shape for her age. I hope her spirits pick up. Sorry to hear about your migraine! I need to pick up that CoHo soon! Everyone seems to love it.

  2. I hope winter won’t be coming any time soon as well, and definitely not too harsh either (even though that’s what they’re predicting for us but so far it’s been 70F when it’s normally colder, knock on wood). Sorry to hear about the migraines, and I’m glad you got the chance to sleep during vacation!

    Sounds like you had an amazing reading month! I’m happy to hear you enjoyed The Golden Enclaves, I’m currently reading A Deadly Education.

  3. Happy that you spent a nice vacation! Sorry for migraines though.. they do are the worst, I always get one near the end of my contraceptive. Usually KO me for a day aww- sending all the vibes to your mama ❀️ I’d say she sound pretty great for her age, despite what she thinks!

  4. So sorry to hear about your migraine. I hope you’re feeling better now. I’m excited to see what else you’re doing with sprayed book edges. I’m still in awe of what you did on your Wolfsong book.

  5. Well it’s great you have your time off and have been reading such great books. I also enjoyed the Golden Enclaves. It’s too bad we have to use time off for all that maintenance and doc appts and that kind of thing. Of course, some vacations are so strenuous you need a vacation after the vacation. Wishing you a great week ahead! I can’t believe it’s November already.

  6. Aw it’s tough when moms get older but sounds like yours is still doing indepenedently! And hope you get good answers soon for your husband. Waiting for answers or results is definitely anxiety inducing!

    Nice reels πŸ™‚

  7. haha If my mom did book stuff, she would be just like you!! But its what they say right “no matter how old the body gets, the soul stays forever young”. So keep doing what you love doing, that is all that matters even if your kids groan in despair, you are living life and I love seeing your energy, always brings a smile to my face. I am sorry you had some migraines, those are the worst!

    Hope you get some good reading and blogging stuff accomplished this week!

  8. Sorry to hear about the migraines. I get so many of them too, especially at this time of year when they weather keeps rapidly changing back and forth. I want to read Dark Room Etiquette so badly! It’s on my November TBR. I hope I’ll have time for it!

  9. Don’t you love (well, hate) how weeks off from work get filled up with things like doctor visits and car maintenance? It never fails. πŸ™‚ Sorry to hear about the migraine. That sounds miserable. I’d say if your mom is 82, living on her own, and getting around that she is doing better than most! πŸ™‚ Love, love, love the reel about embarrassing your kids. LOL
