Synopsis

Damaged. Broken. Destroyed. I’ve heard it all. A single moment of trusting the wrong person shattered my life into pieces, and my family has never looked at me the same. It’s impossible to convince them that I’m anything more than the broken girl they rescued all those years ago.
Until I meet him.
Ramsey’s grumpy demeanor and menacing scowl scare most of the world away. But not me. Not when I’ve seen his gentle hands soothe an abused colt or comfort a terrified mare.
And when I finally get up the courage to strike out on my own, Ramsey’s there. Roommates felt like such a safe proposition until Ramsey’s lingering touches and wicked smile light a fire in me I don’t think will ever be extinguished. And he feels it, too…
But just as my new life begins to take root, an evil from my past emerges from the shadows, casting a darkness on my newfound freedom. And this time, they won’t settle for pieces of me. They want everything…

4 stars and bittersweet read.

Go for it of you love:
-small town romance;

-broken horses , that went through abuse but are slowly learning to trust again thanks to Ramsey;
-found family (Shiloh has a lot of brothers, sisters and in law);
-two lost boys that will break your heart and fall under Ramsey’s protection;

oh my….you read a Catherine Cowles??!!!! I love it! She is one of my favorite authors. Love how endearing she crafts her characters.
Lovely bite size review, Sophie! I adored the whole Tattered & Torn series and I was happy that Cowles saved Shiloh’s story for last. She and Ramsey were such a perfect fit. Their past trauma allowed them to understand each other in a way that others could not.
I saw you reading the Tattered and Torn series Tanya! I have a lot to catch up with LOL
This is an author I’ve been wanting to try. That found family is really calling to me, as is the small town romance.
I think it would be right up your alley Suzanne!
I am not sure I have read any romances featuring a hero kidnapped as a kid. I have also heard great things about Cowles’ books. Sound interesting and emotional
Maybe you could try it as you veered into romance these last months Sam 😉
