Contemporary Romance Books
As you may have noticed I read tons of romances as it’s my main genre. Adult or YA, Contemporary or Fantasy; Dark or Light etc.
Choosing among the bests contemporary romance books that I’ve read in 2017 is HARD!
But a promise is a promise: few books per posts this month.
Today I’m voting for two heart-wrenching and gorgeous books. These authors are just extraordinarily gifted and give you highly emotional stories. The ones that leave you with huge book hangover.
My winners of the day:
The Gravity of Us by Brittainy C Cherry
Here are some of my thoughts:
Thought N°1: Graham is so cold it’s not funny.
Thought N°2: I love Lucy, her quirks her freedom, her bright smile. She reminds me of sunny Louisa Clark from Me before You. Come to think of it, it’s slightly similar with the optimistic and radiant heroine and the jaded, detached hero. “ I adored that about her, how she was such a people person. She made every room fill with light whenever she entered the space.”
Thought N°3: she is the heart and he is the iceberg. They’re polar opposites: “Doesn’t it tire you?” I asked. “To feel so much?” “Doesn’t it tire you to not feel at all?” I’m certain below the surface hides a caring man. Or at least I hope but I have faith in Brittainy C Cherry.
Thought N°4: first twist in the story and I did not see it coming! No, no, no I don’t like it at all! It’s so wrong please Mrs Cherry don’t go this way.
Thought N°5: my heart just broke for Graham. It’s now official, I’m in love
I’m sobbing on the train as this is heartbreaking and so unjust!
Just read it if you want well written romance, huge emotional roller coaster and a sunny heroine that reminded me of Louisa Clark.
Forever Right Now by Emma Scott
It was a 6 stars!
Here is some of what I wrote about that story:
I found the book toppling Full Tilt off its pedestal and I never thought it would happen one day. Emma wrote something raw, emotional, gorgeous, brilliant in its shadows and deeply human battles.
It’s been an endless emotional onslaught…
Emma gave us exceptional characters. I will speak of them aplenty. They would have been more than enough to make for a brilliant story but she put twists I never saw coming. This added to colorful and supportive side characters made for an outstanding story.
This is a tale about life and love.
About lows so low you don’t think you’ll be up again one day.
It’s about making mistakes and having second chances.
Accepting that the past will never disappear. You’ll always have to live with it so you’d better acknowledge it. Make your past errors your own and transcend your weaknesses.”
What are your favorite contemporary books for 2017?
Thanks for reading!
Both of these are on my reading challenge list for 2018! Squeeee!!
I so want to read The Gravity of Us but I have to start the series from the beginning! I’m off to find them now!!
Susan they are all standalone so if you want to read them out of order it’s perfectly fine 😉
I don’t read much in the way of contemporary romance so I’m adding both of these to my tbr. I did recently read a fantastic contemporary family drama by one of our fellow bloggers, Jay Cudney. It’s called Watching Glass Shatter and I HIGHLY recommend it!
I know Kim! It’s already on my Kindle and I want to read Jay’s book in the coming weeks!!!!
