The best series of 2017
Do you read series? Or are you a standalone kind of reader?
I read both but the problem with series is the cliffhanger! I try to wait for the whole series to be published before beginning but some series are just too irresistible and hyped to wait! I just have a mini meltdown at the end of my reads and eat gallons of ice cream to calm down. Then I feel terribly guilty for all the calories ingested and I rush to the fitness club!
Today I will feature three series too tempting to resist!
Read them at your own risk 😉
A Court Of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas
Here is some of what I wrote about the last published book of 2017 (A Court Of Wings and Ruin):
“I love Sarah J Maas books and waited a looooong time for this installment to reach my mail box. In the mean time I saw all the reviews accumulating on my Goodreads feed and did not dare to read any. I wanted to be surprised. Zero influence. Blank page.
To sum it up: Sarah J Maas knows how to weave a tale and enthrall her readers with epic stories. She kept me on my toes all along and had me experience a roller coaster of emotions!
Some readers were disappointed with the ending but to me it was just perfect.
I wonder who her next books will feature as main characters of the story. I just hope Tamlin will get his HEA somewhat as I think Sarah J Maas should make it up to him.”
Favorite quote because it’s so EMPOWERING (try it on a bad hair day 😉):
“You do not fear”, Rhys breathed. “You do not falter. You do not yield. You go in, you get her, and you come out again.”

Red Queen series by Victoria Aveyard
I loved the first book but was puzzled and disappointed by the second book.
Here is some of what I wrote about the second book:
“I think this book is a transition book. The one where the heroine barely escapes becoming someone so cold and power greedy she would be hated by readers. It can be seen as her trial, a transition to become someone “more” in the third book. To become powerful and caring, a queen and a girl from the slums, to help Mare really make her mind about the brothers (another thing I hated in the book as she still regretted what could have been with Maven, if you can believe it!).”
So of course I waited for the third book impatiently!
Here is what I wrote about it:
“What’s certain is that book made me feel many emotions; grief, sorrow, pain, fear, joy sometimes and disappointment in some characters. It’s never been boring the plot was solid as well as the character’s building.
Really well done Mrs Aveyard, you reconciled me with your series and I can’t wait to read the fourth book. Do you need beta readers? No? Editing job maybe? Still no? Damn! A girl can try… »

The Conqueror’s Saga by Kiersten White
So far two books have been published: And I Darken; Now I Rise
I can’t recommend this series too many times as I love the unconventional heroine: Lada!
Here is some of what I wrote about Now I Rise:
“I fell maddly in love with “And I Darken”. I think Lada is a strong and very unconventional heroine that could inspire many little girls. I loved Radu and Mehmet as well even if I had some reservation about Mehmet (go see my review of “And I Darken”).
So I was beyond thrilled when Random House Children chose to grant my wish!
Now I can honestly say that I did not want to stop reading but I also don’t know what I should wish for the third book. This is very unusual as I always know what I want or hope to find in a sequel!
Lada is resilient beyond anything and strongly determined to conquer HER land. She is still the Dracul, a dragon. She is not a lady. She is not a princess. She’ll never be someone’s wife and live in his shadow. She is Lada and she is enough.
So would I recommend this book? A thousand times yes! And I’ll wait for the third one with great curiosity as I really don’t know what choice Mrs White will make for her characters and her plot!”

Still need to finish the top 2. Been getting sidetracked
Don’t I know it all about getting sidetracked Laura! Always a new shiny and hyped book coming our way LOL
I have been hearing a lot about ACOTAR series and I plan on reading it in 2018. Though I have to say that I have not heard much about Red Queen. I do hope to read these books soon. Great list!
Thank you Aditi! I hope you’ll get to read ACOTAR as it’s such a fantastic series indeed! What are some of your favorites?
Awesome picks Sophie! I loved And I Darken and Now I Rise! I have A Court of Wings and Ruin, but I still haven’t read it yet due to my NetGalley addiction. And I’m glad to hear you liked the third book in The Red Queen series. I had to force myself through the second book, so I wasn’t planning on continuing, but now I think I will.
Haha Kim yes Netgalley can be addictive! As far as Red Queen is concerned in the second book I was “WTH???” but I promise the third book is much better! It’s just the men that keeps disappointing me! Fingers crossed the fourth book will be “their” book 😉
