Hi Dear friends,
IT’S FRIDAY! Thank God some time to follow everyone back and comment. Plus time to read in bed as long as want ….nearly!
We are beginning the weekend with something to lighten your mood: RomCom!
Collector of Book Boyfriends and I decided to feature some Queen or King of RomCom today!
I’ve read many romantic comedies so far but I will always recall one of my firsts: Confessions of a Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella!
You know when sometimes you forget nearly years but do recall some specific moments? Well that’s what’s happening here: I remember reading in the summer in my garden when I laughed so loud that my husband and even my neighbor working in his garden came to see what all the fun was about.
I was reading and all the time thinking :” Nooo! She won’t do it! She won’t dare!’ just to have Becky do the unthinkable just a few words later.
From that moment on Sophie Kinsella became my RomCom queen!
Summary of Confessions of a Shopaholic
“Becky Bloomwood has a fabulous flat in London’s trendiest neighborhood, a troupe of glamorous socialite friends, and a closet brimming with the season’s must-haves. The only trouble is, she can’t actually afford it—not any of it. Her job writing at Successful Saving magazine not only bores her to tears, it doesn’t pay much at all. And lately Becky’s been chased by dismal letters from the bank—letters with large red sums she can’t bear to read. She tries cutting back. But none of her efforts succeeds. Her only consolation is to buy herself something . . . just a little something.
Finally a story arises that Becky actually cares about, and her front-page article catalyzes a chain of events that will transform her life—and the lives of those around her—forever.”
Of course when the movie showed up in the movie theaters I just had to go watch it and it’s been one of my favorite so far. I think my daughter and I must have watched it five times at least!
Here is the trailer if you are interested
Now do tell me who is your RomCom queen or king?
Thanks for reading and happy Friday!
Great highlight – I love Sophie Kinsella! Honestly, I didn’t know (or maybe forgot) the book had been made into a movie! I’ll have to watch it! =D
