OK today is Big Apple day!

I confess I don’t always remember where my book boyfriends live. Yes I can tell if it’s in the US or UK or …. but the town …

So I sweat some but here I come with an Uber favorite. OK he does not originally come from New York BUT he lives there for most of the book so it must be good, right?

Ladies and Gents today’s winner is Ruckus from Ruckus by L.J. Shen!

What I thought first about Ruckus (Dean):

“I could not stand douchebag Dean. He was so full of it! I thought Leigh overdid it. That he was a caricature of the Manwhore with a capital “M”.
I can’t stand guys with ego bigger than the Kilimanjaro. You know the one hitting on you so hard because they think everyone will fall at their feet and thank them for barely existing.
Well that was Dean! Add to this his huge addiction to booze and weed I soooo wanted to slap his face. Hard!”

Then as my reading progressed … I fell in love with him!

Why?

I think the biggest reason I ended loving Ruckus was Dean himself.

If you had told me in the beginning that I would end loving him I would have choked with laughter. But that’s what happened.

I loved Dean because:
-He is broken;
-He is hiding his pain behind dazzling smiles and cockiness;
-He messed up BIG time with Rosie;
-And he messed up again instead of straightening his act! Seriously this choice Leigh made was so much better because you expect the main character to redeem him right away when he did a huge mistake. But not here and this was so much more interesting! More realistic too given Dean’s “condition”;
And of course because he “loves Rosie to pieces”, “has an incredibly hot bod”, “is gifted in bed”, “loves little girls” and “spend billions on roses for his girl.”

Favorite quote:

“Why do you shine so f@cking bright? You make it hard for me to sleep next to you.”
L.J. Shen, Ruckus

And those who are interested by the book, here is the synopsis:

“Rosie

They say that life is a beautiful lie and death a painful truth. They’re right.
No one has ever made me feel more alive than the guy who serves as a constant reminder that my clock is ticking.
He is my forbidden, shiny apple.
The striking fallacy to my blunt, raw, truth.
He is also my sister’s ex-boyfriend.
One thing you should know before you judge me;
I saw him first. I craved him first. I loved him first.
Eleven years later, he waltzed into my life, demanding a second chance.
Dean Cole wants to be my bronze horseman. My white knight has finally arrived. Hopefully, he isn’t too late.

Dean

They say the brightest stars burn out the fastest. They’re right.
She sets my mind on fire.
All smart mouth, snarky attitude and a huge heart.
In a world where everything is dull, she shines like fucking Sirius.
Eleven years ago, fate tore us apart.
This time, I dare it to try.
Getting to her is a battlefield, but man, that’s why they call me Ruckus.
Rosie LeBlanc is about to find out how hard I can fight.
And conquering her will be the sweetest victory.”
