BookCouplesChallenge Day 9

Fake Relationship.

Ok at first I only recalled reading about one fake relationship « One week Girlfriend » (see here below).

But then when I perused my “read” shelf on Goodreads I unearthed some unexpected treasures about fake relationhsips!

So who are my contenders this day?

Fable and Drew in One Week Girlfriend by Monica Murphy

Drew paid Fable to play his one week girlfriend while going back for the holiday at his childhood house. The book is filled with secrets and twists but they were really cute together.

Synopsis:

Temporary. That one single word best describes my life these last few years. I’m working at a temporary job until I can finally break free. I’m my little brother’s temporary mother since our mom doesn’t give a crap about either of us. And I’m that temporary girl all the guys want to get with because I give it up so easily. According to the rumors, at least.

But now I’m the temporary girlfriend of Drew Callahan, college football legend and all around golden guy. He’s beautiful, sweet—and he’s hiding way more secrets than I am. He’s brought me into this fake life where everyone seems to hate me. And everyone seems to want something from him. The only thing he seems to want though is…

Me.

I don’t know what to believe anymore. All I know is, I think Drew needs me. And I want to be there for him.

Forever.

Favorite quote :

“This isn’t a game to me, Fable. This is my life. And I want you to be a part of it … I want you and you only. I’m not sharing you with anyone else.”

Hannah and Garret in The Deal by Elle Kennedy

Garret pretends to be Hannah’s boyfriend to get another guy to notice her.

Here is what I wrote about the story:

“Flawless execution.

It’s like an onion, its has layers upon layers.

The story is about college romance with a deal between the smart girl and the star hockey player needing a tutor. But there is a catch. The deal is about helping Hannah going out with Justin,a football player, not with Garrett the hockey player. See these books with fake boyfriend becoming real boyfriend? Now, you get it.

But it’s only the first layer because under the facade, past physical abuse and rape are hidden. It was heart wrenching to see Hannah so determined to overcome her trauma as she saw herself as broken. And if Garrett is a jackass, he is honest, loyal, sexy and totally melts for Hannah. He loves her sass, her “I won’t take your crap” attitude and her love of bright colors.
She’ll make him chase her and it was fun to see this stubborn hockey player laying it on thick. He caught her, all right but he was also unexpectedly caught up with her, landing a grilfriend and it was not part of his plan.

The subplot were interesting too: Cass, Hannah’s pain in the *** co-singer who could shame some famous diva with his outrageous ego and Garrett’s father conspiracies.

I enjoyed myself enormously reading this one. »

Favorite quote :

“Him: Confession: I deleted all the 1 Direction from your iPod when u were in the can.
You’re welcome.
Me: WHAT?? I’m going to kiss u!
Him: With tongue?
It takes me a second to realize what happened, at which point I’m completely mortified.
Me: Kill u! I meant KILL. u. Damn autocorrect.
Him: Surrrrrre. Let’s blame it on autocorrect.
Me: Shut it.
Him: I think someone wants to kiss me…”

Mal Erickson and Anne Rollins in Play by Kylie Scott

Here is another great one because let’s be honest Mal is just too much in this series! Hot and funny 😊

Synopsis

Kylie Scott returns with the highly anticipated follow-up to international bestseller Lick.
Mal Ericson, drummer for the world famous rock band Stage Dive, needs to clean up his image fast-at least for a little while. Having a good girl on his arm should do the job just fine. Mal doesn’t plan on this temporary fix becoming permanent, but he didn’t count on finding the one right girl.
Anne Rollins never thought she’d ever meet the rock god who plastered her teenage bedroom walls-especially not under these circumstances. Anne has money problems. Big ones. But being paid to play the pretend girlfriend to a wild life-of-the-party drummer couldn’t end well. No matter how hot he is. Or could it?

Favorite quote (I just had to look some to have on PG rated as Mal is kind of a dirty talker 😉 ) :

“You call her pumpkin?” My sister’s voice was filled with awe. “Does she actually answer?”

“Well, she pretends to hate it. But secretly, I know she loves it. Her face goes all soft and everything.”

Oakley Ford and Vaughn Bennet in When It’s Real by Erin Watt

I know I’ve introduced them as book couple celebrities and I even chose Oakley in Book Boyfriend Challenge from September but this book fits the bill plus I had a great time reading their love story!

Sorry for the repeat but I had to add them once again 😉

I will spare you the synopsis and go right to another quote

“I wrap my arms around her shoulders. She snuggles into my side and I swear, my damn heart flips over because I want her to be my girl. For real.”

And my winner is… another couple I’ve featured this month sorry but I love it too much!

Vanessa Mazur and Aiden Graves in The Wall of Winnipeg and Me by Mariana Zapata

Vanessa marries Aiden to allow him to stay in the US.

I gave you my thoughts on the book some days ago so I’ll go for the synopsis today:

Vanessa Mazur knows she’s doing the right thing. She shouldn’t feel bad for quitting. Being an assistant/housekeeper/fairy godmother to the top defensive end in the National Football Organization was always supposed to be temporary. She has plans and none of them include washing extra-large underwear longer than necessary.

But when Aiden Graves shows up at her door wanting her to come back, she’s beyond shocked.

For two years, the man known as The Wall of Winnipeg couldn’t find it in him to tell her good morning or congratulate her on her birthday. Now? He’s asking for the unthinkable.

What do you say to the man who is used to getting everything he wants?

Favorite quote:

“I don’t know,” I stuttered, “Do you love me?”
His gaze was so intent the entire world seemed to stop. “You tell me. I never stop thinking about you. I worry about you all the time. Every beautiful thing I see reminds me of you. I can’t finish my practices in Colorado with out wishing you were around,” he said in a steady tone. “You tell me what I feel.”
