Hi friends,
Top 5 Tuesday is back! Long hosted by Shanah @bionicbookworm (she was the creator), she has now new challenges awaiting her and Meeghan from @meeghanreads has become our new mastermind!!!
In the meantime I participated in Top 10 Tuesday and I think I’ll still dive in when the topic will be calling to me! Maybe do both?
Anyway, today’s topic is “character’s I’d trade places with”.
It seems to me that Meeghan is determined to make us swipe lives with our favorite characters! Last week we swaped clothes now it’s our places.
Of course you would think that I would choose kickass heroines with panty dropping hot boyfriends like Aelin (Rowan!) and Feyre (Rhysand) or Jude (Cardan) etc. Right?
Well…nope! Haha! Gotcha!
No the characters you’ll see below aren’t “only” (because nobody’s perfect right? ) chosen because of their boyfriends.
Let’s see who and why….
Elisabeth Scrivener from Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson
Because she is a librarian and more precisely, a keeper of libraries and I am a booknerd. Hence she has my dream job!
Plus Nathaniel Thorn is HOT and sassy (yes yes I am relapsing I know!)
“Why are you looking at me like that?” he inquired. “You used a demonic incantation to pack my stockings!” He raised an eyebrow. “You’re right, that doesn’t sound like something a proper evil sorcerer would do. Next time, I won’t fold them.”
Manon Blackbeak from Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas
Because she is a witch (and I would love to make magic), she is badass, her best friend is Abraxos (and I need a wyvern) and I love her looks (all black leather and red cape).
“We are the Thirteen,” she said. “From now until the Darkness claims us.”
― Kingdom of Ash
(and that’s when I cried like a baby by the way)
Linus Bakker from The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune
Not for Arthur Parnasus as I don’t fit his type but for the kids!!! I love found families and Lucy is such a drama queen 😀 I could give my luggage to Chauncey, garden with Talia, wander in the woods with Phee, … go on treasure hunts! I would have a blast!!!
“We should always make time for the things we like. If we don’t, we might forget how to be happy.”
― The House in the Cerulean Sea
Leena Cotton from The Switch by Beth O’Leary
Because I’d love to have Eileen as a grand mother! And this choice is kind of ironic as the concept of the book is a “live my life” with a swap between Leena and Eileen. I would also love befriending the characters in that small village. I know we’d have a hoot! I also happen to love England so that would be a big bonus!
Weare talking about Eileen, 80 years old in the quote below:
“Oooh. Well that’s a landmark moment for you right there. Your first d!ck pic!”
“My first what?”
She makes a face. “Wow this is worse than telling my daughter where babies come from” (…) I tilt my head. “Gosh” I say.
“Looking pretty spritely for a man of eighty.”(…)
“Does that ever work?” “Maybe it’s like flashers in the park, it’s not whether you like it-they just like showing their todgers.”
Diana Bishop from A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness
Because (take a seat, the list is long):
-she is a powerful witch (see above my dream of being a witch);
-she has a gorgeous, powerful, madly in love vampire for a husband Matthew Clermont;
-I would love being able to meet Queen Elizabeth (the first one );
-she has more castles and houses than you could dream of (yes yes I am shallow);
-I would love living in the very opinionated and weird Bishop House;
-I have always dreamed on going on a quest;
-I love every friend and family member in that story;
Well, you have guessed, I want to be her!
“My ideas about vampires may be romantic, but your attitudes toward women need a major overhaul.”
― A Discovery of
Now what character would you trade place with?
Thanks for reading!
This was so much fun! I haven’t envisioned myself as a character from a book since I was a kid – I need to get back into it!
I haven’t read any of these yet but you’re reason seem valid, LOL! I’d definitely have to stick myself in the BDB world… 🙂
Wait… you picked Manon and there was no mention of Dorian?? Who are you and what have you done with Sophie??
I am also now adding Sorcery of Thorns to my immediate TBR list!!
You’re definitely not the first person I’ve seen pick Elisabeth!! I actually picked Katrien myself. She’s in a little less danger and still gets all that good sentient library fun.
omg I would love to be put in any of TJ Klune’s books!!! he’s such a master at making loveable characters. I cry about Wolfsong every single day of my life </3 can't wait to read all the other cool books on this list, amazing post!!!!
Wolfsong had me crying like a baby too!
Diana Bishop sounds like an awesome character I’d swap places with too! Great list, Sophie! 😀
Thank you Lashaan!
Love this post! Honestly, I’d love to switch places with Elisabeth Scrivener because she has my dream job and also because of Nathaniel because I have to be honest haha 🙂 But also yes to Manon (my favorite TOG character), Linus Baker (I wish I lived at the House in the Cerulean Sea too) and Leena Cotton (because that village and its inhabitants were amazing). I still need to read A Discovery of Witches but it sounds so good!
Nathaniel!!!!! And yes being a librarian is a dream!
I love your picks! Especially Manon and Elisabeth are some of my favorites.
Thank you!!!
Manon is awesome! Diana Bishop is also a good choice.
I think my favourite from your list is Leena Cotton though. I’m so in love with The Switch! The audiobook is hilarious! They have an awesome older lady reading Eileen’s parts and she does it so well! It’s much better than if I was just reading it… My brain wouldn’t have done it justice. I have no idea how many times I’ve giggle snorted out loud but people must think I’m a bit mad. 🙂
Nicci I am currently listening to the audiobook of The Extraordinaries bby TJ Klune and it’s exactly what’s happening to me. I am laughing so hard on the street people must think I am nuts!
I love Manon, she is my spirit animal!
Me too! I want to be her when I grow up!
Leena from The Switch would definitely be a fun one. I loved her grandma. 🙂
Eileen was amazing!!!
Manon really was a badass, but I loved how she evolved too
Me too. When she questioned what she had been taught all her life.
Ha! Ha! No Nahri in there, Sophie? Fun list though…
Well no I had to choose LOL
