Here I am again participating in this monthly blog event called Calendar Girls and hosted by Melanie Bernard and Flavia The Bibliophile.

Guidelines are easy: each month there is a theme voted on. Bloggers then write posts about a book fitting that theme. The best part are the discussions on our picks as we’ll visit the other bloggers and comment their choices 😀 To make it even more interactive we have a Twitter chat once a month on the 3rd Monday using #CGBChat

The choices are meant to be posted the first Monday of each month on our individual blogs.

We also get to vote for the next month’s theme starting on the 3rd Monday of the month (same day as #CGBChat) and for our favorite book pick of the month!

I’ve read many series with good endings. The ones I wanted and expected like A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas, The Winner’s trilogy by Marie Rutkoski, The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken, Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead etc.

I’ve read series with endings so awful they had me raging at the author like: The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey, Divergent by Veronica Roth and recently The Queen of the Tearling by Erika Johansen.

But there is one series with an ending so perfect and so unexpected that I have to choose this one!!!!

The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare

Synopsis for those who still have to read this series (how is that possible???) LOL

“In a time when Shadowhunters are barely winning the fight against the forces of darkness, one battle will change the course of history forever. Welcome to the Infernal Devices trilogy, a stunning and dangerous prequel to the New York Times bestselling Mortal Instruments series.

The year is 1878. Tessa Gray descends into London’s dark supernatural underworld in search of her missing brother. She soon discovers that her only allies are the demon-slaying Shadowhunters—including Will and Jem, the mysterious boys she is attracted to. Soon they find themselves up against the Pandemonium Club, a secret organization of vampires, demons, warlocks, and humans. Equipped with a magical army of unstoppable clockwork creatures, the Club is out to rule the British Empire, and only Tessa and her allies can stop them…”

Truly we don’t have one but two endings!

If you don’t have read the series don’t go further as it will be spoilerish but I have to explain my meaning.

First there is a love triangle in the series between Will, Tessa and Jem and I usually HATE love triangle. I just want to shake some sense in the main character and tell him or her to choose already!

Not here. I had my favorite but I could undrestand why Tessa still agreed to marry Jem.

Then..things happened and she ended with Will, my favorite (I have a fondness for bad boys or flawed heroes what can I say…).

All would have been perfect if Tessa would not still be headed to a life of solitude with her being immortal thanks to her demon blood.  That was without Cassandra Clare totally unexpected but still brilliant trick!

Tessa got a second ending and we got to enjoy these characters in the other series happening waaaaaay after this one.

If you don’t vote for my choice you really are picky! 😀

Now some of my bookstagrams as I love these covers!

Last sentence as this is all about the ending:

“And if the Thames that ran beside them, sure and silver in the afternoon light, recalled a night long ago when the moon shone as brightly as a shilling on this same boy and girl, or if the stones of Blackfriars knew the thread of their feet and thought to themselves: At last, the wheel comes full circle, they kept their silence.”

And you what is your favorite end of series? have you read this one?

Thanks for reading!

  1. When I found out Trice’s fate while I was still early into Allegiant I just couldn’t even with it anymore and set it aside. I refuse to finish it haha. Oh man I just read The Queen of the Tearling, and I loved it, I can’t wait to read Invasion and Fate. I gave up on Cassie Clare, I didn’t even finish the last book of the Mortal Instruments and I barely made it through the first book of Infernal Devices.

  2. Sophie! Those covers were what drew me to this series initially. They are GORGEOUS. And I love books set in Victorian England. For some reason though, when I started reading this series (I think the year that he first book came out), the writing really bothered me! I forget why though. So, because you picked this as your favourite series ending this month, I will definitely have to give this series another try 😉 Great pick!

  3. I have definitely not read this series. I didn’t even finish the Mortal Instruments, tbh. I thought this series looked better, but I was pretty burnt out on Cassandra Clare by the time it came along. Glad you loved the ending though!

    1. Well I can understand why you were burnt out Katie as TMI is a quite long series 😉 This one is only a trilogy so if you ever feel themood to read her again it could be a good choice.

  4. RAWR! I haven’t even read The Mortal Instruments yet. :p But I have heard very good things about this entire series and I NEED TO GET ON IT! Grrr. HAha! But I’m glad you picked it. Says good things are in my reading future. 😉

  5. I’m glad you loved this series! I loved the first book in this trilogy but I haven’t finished the rest of the trilogy yet. It’s currently in my binge TBR list.

    1. Thank you Poulami!!! I’m trying to revamp my posts somehow and I’ve a recent fondness for vectors LOL
