Hi friends,

Book Boyfriend is back and you can find the tour lineup HERE.

For this year’s event Meet Your Next Book Boyfriend I will have three posts scheduled and the first one today is from Emma Scott!

When I asked her if she would give me something about a book boyfriend, she was immediately on board.

I had no idea what she would give me, so when I discovered that she made a fictional interview of Weston, I was floored!

In fact, Weston will be one of the book boyfriends I chose to feature this year. So Emma inteviewing him was really the icing on the cake!

I won’t go into details about Weston in this post as I’ll gush aplenty about him later but just know that he is one of the main characters from Emma’s duet: Beautiful Hearts!

Without further ado, let’s dive into her material!

Hello loves,

Weston J Turner is the hero of my Beautiful Hearts duet, a military romance with a love triangle that you haven’t seen before. He’s a poet encased in warrior’s armor, and the love of his life is the hopeless romantic, Autumn Caldwell. For this fabulous Valentine’s theme event by the amazing Sophie and her Beware the Reader Blog, I decided to open up questions from my readers who have read the BH Duet and have Wes answer them…without spoilers. :O

Hopefully, it’ll give you a taste of one of my favorite, most beautifully broken boy, a man who would lay down his life for those he loves…and nearly did.

Q: What’s your biggest regret?

Wes: Not telling Autumn the truth right away. It led to a crazy, nightmarish, but ultimately beautiful journey. It’s hard to talk about regret. It almost feels pointless, right? You can’t change the past, and the past led me to who I am as a person, and where I am now. With Autumn. So I try not to dwell in regret.

Q: My dear, sweet Weston, if you could reverse your injury, would you? Or would you, although the journey was rough, keep the beauty that came with it?

Wes: If I could keep that beauty that came with it, yes. But I don’t think people transform without being bitch-slapped by life, to wake them up. So it would feel like an unearned transformation. What happened to me wasn’t merely in body but in spirit too, and the gifts I have now far outweigh the pain of any physical injury.

Q: We left off with you proposing to Autumn with an exquisite poem. Are you still writing her “pretty words” and how has life been for the two of you?

Wes: I do. I tell her she’s the cure to my writer’s block. Whenever I am working on a new anthology or completing projects for my Masters, and I get stuck, I just write about her. It’s so easy. I could write about her all day, all year, for the rest of my life and never run out of words. So when I get blocked up, I only have to look at her or listen to her talk about her plans to save the world, my love for her just floods up and pours out. Life is good.

Q: What will you tell your kids about what’s important in life?

Wes: I’d tell them to listen to their mother. No one is kinder or more compassionate. I would tell them that what’s truly important in life is not tangible. Love, happiness, forgiveness. These matter. I’d tell them if they find that friend who feels like a brother or sister, treat them like family, because they are.

Q: If your own child was thinking about enlisting, would you encourage this path?

Wes: I wouldn’t encourage or discourage. If the path is the one he or she feels like they must take, deep in their gut, their soul, when they consult themselves in a quiet hour…then they should do it. And that’s true for anything they’d want to do. Would I be scared shitless if they went to combat? Hell, yes. But I’d be more proud.

Q: Name 5 things that you are grateful for. Name 5 things that you wish you could change.

Wes: I’m grateful for

Autumn

Connor

Professor Ondiwuje

Paul and Ma

My coaches and physical therapists

I’d change:

Nothing, except maybe I’d raise sidewalk repaving budgets to get rid of cracks.

Thank you SO MUCH Emma! 😀

  2. I absolutely love this blog post. I love how she had Weston answer the questions instead of her. This duet is one of my favorite books ever by Emma. She is one of my favorite storytellers. I love your blog & your honest reviews. Thank you.
