“Lynette Noni is a masterful storyteller. A must-read for any fantasy lover!” —Sarah J. Maas, #1 New York Times Bestselling Author
She’d failed them. All of them. And now she was paying the price.
Kiva thought she knew what she wanted—revenge. But feelings change, people change . . . everything has changed.
After what happened at the palace, Kiva is desperate to know if her friends and family are safe, and whether those she wronged can ever forgive her. But with the kingdoms closer to the brink of war than they’ve ever been, and Kiva far away from the conflict, more is at stake than her own broken heart.
A fresh start will mean a perilous quest, forcing mortal enemies and uneasy allies together in a race against the clock to save not just Evalon, but all of Wenderall. With her loyalties now set, Kiva can no longer just survive—she must fight for what she believes in. For who she believes in. But with danger coming from every side, and the lives of everyone she loves at risk, does she have what it takes to stand, or will she fall?
5 stars at least!
I couldn’t wait for my Fairyloot copy to arrive (in many months) and rushed to listen to the audiobook!
What to say without revealing any spoiler?
Well let’s begin by saying that this book is excellent, amazed me with its twists and turns and that the fast pace guarantees that there is never a dull moment!
But it’s not “only” a plot/action book!
It’s also a “characters” book, filled with emotions, attaching characters who are making mistakes but also, who are determined to take courageous actions to right their wrongs.
There were so many things happening right from the start of the book that I am sure I already forgot some as I have been swept off my feet and embarked on a whirlwind of adventure!
The book begins with Kiva being at her lowest and back in a very, very tight spot! What she’s been put through was very difficult for me to read as it was one of my triggers!
Surprisingly, Cresta her old archenemy will be the one who will help Kiva overcome her ordeal!
For how much I hated Cresta in the first book, Lynette Noni wrote a formidable redemption arc for her and I am now a fierce supporter of our fiery inmate!
Kiva will suffer, not only physically but especially mentally.
She is riddled with guilt for what she involuntarily helped make happen. For all that Jaren and his family has lost because of her.
I think Lynette Noni nailed the guilt to overcome, the long path to follow to forgive yourself and the journey to grow into who you were meant to be.
Now, how can Kiva right her wrongs? Who will help her defeat her evil sister? And is it possible even to mend things who have been broken, find something who has been lost?
I won’t say more about the book because honestly it would be spoilerish.
Just know that I adored all the characters in the book, past and new ones, except the evil villains of course! Because these are not morally grey characters but plain bad people that our heroes will have to face if they hope to save their kingdom!
It’s fast paced, inventive, a mix of quest, redemption, twists and turns, love, action, magic with well, just unforgettable characters.
Lynette Noni is indeed a master story teller and she did the impossible: maintain the quality throughout the three books!
It won’t be the last stories that I’ll read from her.
If you love fantasy, you simply just HAVE to read that trilogy!
Thanks for reading!
