Top Ten Tuesday is featured by That Artsy Reader Girl. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
This week’s topic is : Favourite Character Relationships
This will be a mishmash of friendship, found family, sisterhood and more. The only common thread will be that these relationships are not romantic ones!
First to come: the friendship to the death of Fang Runin and Chen Kitay; sisters in death too Manon Blackbeak and the Thirteen.

Some sibling bonds now: the blood siblings from The Dark Artifices with the Blackthorns and found family with the kids in The House in the Cerulean Sea.

Some unexpected pairing working towards a common goal now that will lead to weird friendships: Artemis and the Revenant from Vespertine and Jackaby with miss Abigail Rook!

Now some human/robot/AI friendship! Because these machines felt so real and full of sass and well…friendly! Miss Fresh and Cricket in LifeL1k3 and Spensa with M-Bot in Skyward.

Now I’d like to pay tribute to some characters who are crazy but who would die to protect those they love: their friends. You’ll get a bonus here. Benji from Beartown who will protect his friends from town, Sevro who will protect Darrow and all their friends and Andrew who was lethal and unhinge in protecting Neil and the crew.

Thanks for reading!
Sophie

I agree with Sam that SJM Is a master at developing friend groups/found families that become so strong and impactful. Same with Cassie Clare.
Indeed Tanya!
I wish I had thought to include the Cerulean Sea kids on my list. Loved them!
Such a great book!
Red Rising. I forgot how great the characters are.
I know right?
You named some of my favs, Sophie – the kids in Cerulean Sea, Lemon Fresh, and the Foxhole team.
Yayy!
Nice list You’ve reminded me I want to read Beartown at some point.
I hope you will as it’s fantastic!
Some of these covers are mesmerizing.
Right?
SJM always puts together such great squads. My favorite was from the ACATOR books. Backman’s inclusion of community and beautiful relationships in an among the residents is a draw for me with all his books
ACOTAR is simply iconic!
I love human/ robot relationships!
Clare is an author I’ve been super curious about but just haven’t tried…
I hope you’ll give her books a try Greg!
