Happy Wednesday!
It’s already the fifth post of this “Blogmas ” series and today I am talking about my favorite romantasy!
It’s a genre I have read a lot so choosing only three books is already a high feat!
The fisrt one (in no particular order) is Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros. The sequel is brilliant!

Even in February I predicted that this book would be a favorite of 2025!
Every single character was amazing with big developments. This is teamwork and what a team we have! I predict that you will:
-gasp;
-swoon;
-fear;
-rage; –
cry;
-laugh
And all in all end exhausted having been through all these battles and crushing revelations with the characters. But please, give me more
Another favorite this year and a first work is Dire Bound by Sable Sorensen (it’s a duo of writers)
I was sold as soon as I saw that there was:
-an underdog (an alleycat, streetfighter and commoner who would attend a war academy);
-big bad wolves (the direwolves are terrifying beasts used to fight vampires);
-a quest of sort (the heroine’s sister has been kidnapped and she is dead set on saving her);
-a competition of sort (attending the “academy” to become bonded with a wolf is brutal and there are lost of death and culling);
-a prince who seems charming but also a wicked and dark instructor!
And… I read the 610 pages in one day!
I can’t explain properly but if you love romantasy with action, supernatural beings, kind of assholish instructors and an underdog, go for it you won’t regret it!

Last but not least a dark fantasy with Rose in Chains by Julie Soto

Darkness never felt this addictive.
5 stars
The day I returned to dark romance…
I struggle to convey the profound impact this book had on me, but it was both unexpected and essential.
Once a voracious reader of dark romance, I had grown disillusioned with the genre over the years, perhaps due to repetition or a lack of surprise.
Then came “Rose in Chains.”
Whatever the reason, I devoured this book, finding it difficult to pause and face the realities of life like chores and work.
But now… now I have to wait a whole year for the sequel!!!!!
Have you read any of these?
Thanks for reading.
Sophie

Narrowing down to 3 books would be really hard! I am enjoying the Fourth wing series, so Onyx Storm is coming up to be read this year for sure!

Narrowing down is always hard lol
I’ve listened to the part one of the dramatized adaptation for Onyx Storm, but still need to listen to part two! I heard it ends with another cliffhanger, so I’ve been hesitant to finish it.
I haven’t tried the dramatized adaptation. I tried for one book once but it didn’t work for me.
I saw they were adapting Onyx Storm.
Yes I saw that too! Let’s hope it will be worthy of the books.
I still need to read Onyx Storm (gasp!) and I totally agree about Dire Bound, so glad you bought it for me for my birthday (so thanks again!!!)
You are so welcome!
