Today is Sunday time to look back in the rearview mirror and talk about my week . I am linking up to the Sunday Post hosted for years by Kimberly@caffeinatedreviewer .
In my private life
Happy Sunday!
This week has been very busy at work and I have a lot of blogs to catch up with and I will!
Last week I told you that I would have a chat with one indie author, a PR people and a book box owner about how to used blog tours and book boxes as an indie author.
Well the chat went very well!
I had fun and it was also enlightening.
If you are curious about it, I am leaving the link here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PqcgXaUWKwM
And today I had an AMAZING DAY as I attended my first book event since three years!
A few weeks ago, I learned that Margaret Rogerson, author of Sorcery of Thorns, Vepsertine and An Enchantment of Raven would come to Belgium to sign her books!
Like YALC, it was at the same time as another event: a fantasy fair “Trolls et Légendes”!
So I booked a ticket, ready to meet trolls, fairies, vikings, knights and the like!
We also learned three days ago that some copies of Vespertine, French edition due to be on sale in June would be available at the festival!
And these regular copies were drop dead gorgeous! With stenciled edges, endpaper art, foiling on the cover…
I was determined to buy one (more) copy but yesterday a message announced that all copies had been sold. The deception…
So today, after a small queue, I met Margaret to have her sign my three books allowed. Of course I couldn’t help gushing about my love for her books, quoting from Sorcery of Thorns, talking about dynamic duos, grumpy revenants, medieval universe and also asking where she got her inspiration for Vespertine (a video game with ghouls).
Also pleading to get a sequel for Sorcery of Thorns (and I got a scoop but shhhhh! ;-)).
All in all, we chatted a long moment and she was very sweet and kind!
Suddenly, her publisher came with ONE remaining copy of Vespertine French edition and asked Margaret what she wanted to do with it.
And she told him “Give it to Sophie” !!!! I squealed! Honestly at fifty two I squealed like a school girl!!
So yes I had an amazing time and I’ll leave you with some pictures below.
But on a side note, I had my mask and was nearly the only one. As good as it is to see other people’s face, I was also uneasy to be indoors with so many unmasked people. I hope it won’t come an bite me back!

On the blog this week
I wrote two reviews and have read one more book since!

Thanks for reading!
Sophie

Awww what an amazing event! I’m so happy for you that you got to go, that you got to meet Margaret Rogerson and that you got the book woohoo! What a fabulous time!
Indeed! I still have stars in the eyes lol
Ahh Sophie, that’s so cool that you got to meet Margaret Rogerson! And now I’m SUPER curious for that Sorcery of Thorns scoop, haha 😉 Also so nice that she got you the last copy!
I can only say that us fans of Sorcery of Thorns will get what we had waited for a long time now!
Wow, that’s so amazing! Margaret sounds like such an awesome lady!
That’s so cool that you got to meet Margaret Rogerson. I’m glad that you had such a great time and of course that you got that fabulous copy of Vespertine!
Thank you Suzanne!
I can’t wait to get back to attending book events. I’m so happy that Rogerson was so lovely and I think I would have squealed too.
I think it’s part of being a booknerd lol
Hooray for the return of book events! And how exciting to get the Vespertine copy. You were in the right place at the right time. 🙂
I always seem to be about the only masked person when I go out so I can relate.
I think we are both very careful people Tanya!
Happy for you, Sophie! I know you’ve been so excited for in person events again, and it sounds like you made the most of it.
I truly did Teri!
Looks like you had a great time and that edition of Vespertine is absolutely beautiful!
I did Caro!!
oh yay!! so fun to be able to attend book events again, it makes you realize how much we have missed out on in recent years. I think its adorable you were so excited, its just like my grandmother would say her body may get older, but her spirit would stay forever young.
I totally get your grandmother Renee!
Oh that is so cool that you got to meet Margaret Rogerson! It’s been years since I’ve been to any book events too. Cute photo
Thank you Tammy! Also I tried to comment on your review of City of Dusk but your site is not working at the moment (I tried with Google Chrome and Bing, none worked). Maybe it’s a glitch?
Ooh Rogerson! Fun! I wanted to read Sorcery of thorns but just haven’t gotten to her books quite yet…
I hope you will one day Greg!
Looks like it was a fun event, and way to get that last copy of the book!!!
Right Sam?
That is so exciting! I am happy for you. I also would have been uneasy and one of the only ones with a mask.
Anne – Books of My Heart
It’s funny how we discover that we are really careful people Anne right?
I’m so glad you had such a wonderful experience with the author meet/greet. That is great! Have a wonderful week!
Thank you samantha! You too!
Oh my god!!! Lucky you- it sounds so fantastic, and how kind of her to give it to you she sounds lovely! I have yet to go to a book event myself, but I will someday!
Here too people go mostly unmasked.. except us, mostly but that won’t stop me from wearing it. Well.. i was sick with covid this week, the last to turn positive, as someone dad worked with had it and didn’t had a mask on (fine we arent obligated to isolate anymore, but WHAT! Atleast put a mask on!) so dad brought it in the house.. along with him she got 4 other people in her produce department sick, so nobody to work & do the order for easter karma! Ahah
As you said Kristina, if you don’t have to isolate anymore at least wear a mask!
