For months now I entered what my friend Joe@Storey of Stories imagined as brand new meme called “First Impression”.

It’s a meme where you talk about a book that you JUST STARTED! Maybe you’re only two sentences in the book, a chapter or two , maybe a little farther.  The goal is to  give a few impressions and predict what you’ll think by the end.  It will be fun to go back to this post once you’ll have finished the book! Did you think you’d love it and ended up hating it? Or did you think you’d hate it and wound up loving it? Or were you right all along?

First of all I did not finish my last Friday book …yet! Not because Lifel1k3 is boring on the contrary but because an ARC landed on my Kindle and I just wanted to make sure I would be on time to post the review for the release!!!!!!

By now I am pretty far in the book I’ll be speaking about today but as I am smart *yes, yes, if I don’t say it who will right? 😉 * I took notes. Of my first thoughts of course!

Today’s book is by one of my favorite authors.

She is known to write YA books happening usually in high school with female MC being closed off and having difficult or absent parents. She also writes the best Alpha boyfriends in NA stories 😀

She also usually adds one or two sidekicks who would do everything to protect the other characters. It is really “us against the (adult) world”.

Have you guessed it already? Look below, below, below ….yes below again.

Today I am speaking about Crew by Tijan!

Synopsis

To survive where I live, you have two options.

You can be a Normal—a cheerleader, jock, member of the debate team, or on the yearbook committee. You pretend everything is normal.

Or you can be crew.
You insult us? We hurt you.
You hurt us? We really hurt you.
And if you f*ck with us, we will end you.

My name is Bren.
I’m the only female in the Wolf Crew—the best, fiercest, and most dangerous crew there is—and we have a rule: There’s no falling in love.

Well… too late.

My first impression: Bren is dark. Not as in a evil heroine but she has dark thoughts. There is like a dark cloud hanging around her head. She need Cross to have some light in her life. He seems her anchor. Her best friend.

She also is “trigger happy” quick to detonate at the slightest provocation. She has so much anger and dark emotions festering inside!

The crew system is interesting but even if the author says it’s different from gangs I don’t get all nuances yet…

I guess we will have some Alpha male contest here, protective friend and betrayal like Tijan’s “classics”.

As I love that kind of read I would go with a 4 stars!

What are you reading right now and what is your first impression?

Happy Friday and thanks for reading!

Sophie
