For months now I entered what my friend Joe @Storey of Stories imagined as brand new meme called “First Impression”.

It’s a meme where you talk about a book that you JUST STARTED! Maybe you’re only two sentences in the book, a chapter or two , maybe a little farther.  The goal is to  give a few impressions and predict what you’ll think by the end.  It will be fun to go back to this post once you’ll have finished the book! Did you think you’d love it and ended up hating it? Or did you think you’d hate it and wound up loving it? Or were you right all along?

This week I am truly at the beginning of my book!

This book was a surprise as I didn’t recall asking to review it, only promote. When you know that over 700 bloggers had asked for it and only a few were selected at random this is really luck!

The Chase by Elle Kennedy is the first in a brand new series about hockey happening at Briar University.

I love sportsromance and especially Elle Kennedy in sportsromance.

BUT

So far the female MC seems really a spoiled princess. Knowing all about designer clothes and from what I got often making mistakes like burning *accidentally* her old kappa house. She fakes it till she makes it too so I guess under the perfect outer veneer there is hidden depth. Or at least that’s what I hope or Sarina and I won’t get along at all!

The romantic intereste is a big, muscled, tattooed hockey player.

He is an undercover nerd and does not come from money. He seems determined to avoid falling for the heroine at all costs. Despite her perfect face and figure. I’d say good decision so far LOL

Synopsis

Everyone says opposites attract. And they must be right, because there’s no logical reason why I’m so drawn to Colin Fitzgerald. I don’t usually go for tattoo-covered, video-gaming, hockey-playing nerd-jocks who think I’m flighty and superficial. His narrow view of me is the first strike against him. It doesn’t help that he’s buddy-buddy with my brother.

And that his best friend has a crush on me.

And that I just moved in with them.

Oh, did I not mention we’re roommates?

I suppose it doesn’t matter. Fitzy has made it clear he’s not interested in me, even though the sparks between us are liable to burn our house down. I’m not the kind of girl who chases after a man, though, and I’m not about to start. I’ve got my hands full dealing with a new school, a sleazy professor, and an uncertain future. So if my sexy brooding roomie wises up and realizes what he’s missing?

He knows where to find me.

My prediction: for now a 3 stars but I hope some twist will happen and that I’ll rate it much higher 😉

Two weeks ago I predicted 4,5 stars for I’ll Meet You There by Heather Demetrios

Well it’s been a 6 stars!

You can read the review if you click on the graphic.

What are you reading right now and what is your first impression?

Happy Friday and thanks for reading!

  1. This sounds…interesting? Sports romances are fun, but this MC does sound a little whiny and annoying. Let’s see if it really is a 3-star read for you. 😀

  2. Hope it ends up being at least a 4 star for you!
My FIF this week was for Lady Jane Grey, which I’m loving.

  3. You are so lucky!!! I have been waiting for this spinoff to happen, and am so excited it’s almost here. I liked Fitzy in the last Off Campus book, and am looking forward to getting to know the big, quite guy better.
