For weeks now I entered what my friend Joe @Storey of Stories imagined as brand new meme called “First Impression”.

It’s a meme where you talk about a book that you JUST STARTED! Maybe you’re only two sentences in the book, a chapter or two , maybe a little farther.  The goal is to  give a few impressions and predict what you’ll think by the end.  It will be fun to go back to this post once you’ll have finished the book! Did you think you’d love it and ended up hating it? Or did you think you’d hate it and wound up loving it? Or were you right all along?

My reading of the week is an advanced reading copy that I began today.

Atticus: A Woman’s Journey with the World’s Worst Behaved Dog

A heart-warming and deliciously funny story about the world’s worst behaved dog and how he trained his human how to love herself again.

Through the haze of vodka and self-loathing, Hazel Roundtree saw the poor creature lying in a ditch.

One brown eye. One blue.
Covered in mud and crying from pain, the puppy was desperately trying to free itself from a hopeless situation.

She almost kept walking by. She had her own problems and besides… no one had ever stopped to help her.

Who we’re ultimately meant to be is a journey without end, but there’s always a defined start…

Hazel had no idea the dog would be her beginning, her second chance, the miracle she never saw coming. She named him Atticus. He grew up to be a very bad—and completely awesome—dog. He took Hazel on a life-changing journey filled with mischievous adventure and painful heartbreak. In the end, Hazel grew up to be completely awesome, too.

You have to know that Atticus is REAL! He is Sawyer Bennett’s dog and has his Instagram account @atticuscrazydog

As a dog lover I follow him there and I talk to a dog 😀  Considering that I’m talking to my dog every day it’s not so weird.

First impressions

It begins from Atticus POV when he is a pupp. It’s sweet and warm. Funny too to see the world through the dog’s eyes. Joe you would like it as we both love The Art Of Racing in the Rain.

Second chapter is from Hazel’s POV. Hazel is a mess! She parties, lives on the couch of one of her friends and has been kicked out of her house by her ex husband. The day after a party she smells like beer and cigarette. Eeek disgusting!

I love Atticus chapter but Hazel’s first chapter is repulsive. So I bet on a lot of character’s growth and a lot more sweet and behaved (well from Hazel’s side) in the future. Current prediction: Atticus chapters 5 stars, Hazel 3 stars. So let’s meet in one week!

Now for last week’s read Letters to the Lost by Brigid Kemmerer I predicted 4 stars and it’s been 5 stars!

Do you want to share your first impression?

Thanks for reading!

Sophie
