Hello Dear friends,

Life has been hectic since last weekend with my trip to London! I’ve had tons of stuff to plan for the blog and it’s been a struggle to catch up with you all. I confess that I do like more than I comment these last days as I’m drowning in projects.

I may have been too ambitious for this month with the daily BookAuthorChallenge hosted with the lovely Angy Potter from Collector of Book Boyfriends! Paired with tons of pictures from RARE to post, lots of pictures from my first real book haul to publish AND an “Open Letter To Anonymous” that I really wanted to write….it’s been hyper busy!

I apologize to all of you.

If it was not enough this weekend I plan on writing a “101 preparing and enjoying a book bash” AND I’m currently creating a Facebook Group with Angy just to be able to talk more easier with our followers and have them interact with us 😉

OK enough about what happened in Sophie’s crazy life!

On to the First Lines Friday!

First Line Friday is a weekly event hosted by Hoarding Books.

It’s really easy all you have to do is open the book that you are reading or the first book you get your hands on, open it and write the first lines.

It would be fantastic of course if you could visit the other participants and comment on their posts. Comments are blogger’s currency LOL

“Louisville, Kentucky, 2015

All Allison wanted was for this conversation to be over. That and she hoped the ehavy gray clouds would part and the sun would appear. It could go either way today – sun or rain. She stood at the kitchen window, peeling old white paint off the sill as she waited for the Kentucky sky to make up its mind.

Meanwhile, sitting behind her at the table, her lover, Cooper Mc Queen, gently ruined her life.”

This is from my current read The Lucky Ones by Tiffany Reisz and it’s a fantastic book! It’s the one to take me out of my reading slump.

Happy Friday and now I’ll go comment on yout posts today and tomorrow 😉

Thanks for reading!

Sophie

  1. Happy Friday! Or whatever day it is over there. I can see myself picking up The Lucky Ones because of its first line.
Also I can see that a lot is happening in your life right now(like, how are you able to do so much of work. TEACH ME PLEASE) but I am sure that it will all slow down or go back to normal, trust me!
    Lovely post<3

    1. Haha it was Saturday here when you replied Aditi and thank you! How I’m doing it? Well with less sleep right now LOL

  2. Uhoh a break-up on the first page? For a book that’s a great start :-). Here’s a First Lines Friday from I’ll Be Gone In The Dark, a true crime novel:
“That summer I hunted the serial killer at night from my daughter’s playroom. For the most part I mimicked the bedtime routine of a normal person. Teeth brushed. Pajamas on. But after my husband and daughter fell asleep, I’d retreat to my makeshift workspace and boot up my laptop, that fifteen-inch wide hatch of endless possibilities.”

  3. If it didn’t say Kentucky, I would have guessed it was set here in Oregon 😀
I’m sharing from Karen Barnett’s The Road to Paradise on my blog today, so here I’ll share the first line from another book I hope to read soon, The Alliance by Jolina Petersheim:

“Buffered by grassland, the collision is strangely quiet.”

    Happy weekend!

    1. Yvette it’s in fact set …in Oregon! The beginning is in Kentucky but 95 % of the story happens in Oregon so you had a good guess! And I love your first line 😉 Happy weekend.

  4. This is a great first line!

I’m currently reading Change of Heart by Courtney Walsh. Here’s the first line

Evelyn Brandt stood in her kitchen, the sound of uptight laughter filtering in from the dining room.

  5. Those lines definitely make me want to pick up The Lucky Ones!

I’m featuring Cursed (The Gaia Chronicles Book 1) by Grace White on my blog.

But this first lines come from Impact by Danielle Norman.
“Just in case you were wondering, karma was pronounced as two blue lines that meant you were pregnant.”

    1. Oh yes Janine I promise it’s a very good book 😉 Thanks for your lines and happy weekend.

  6. Well that sounds like my kind of book!! I’ll have to check it out, little busy bee!! LOL! Today’s lines come from Rough Ride: A Chaos Novella Kindle Edition by Kristen Ashley

“He spit on me. I felt it land on the side of my chin and slide down. I didn’t move to wipe it away. I couldn’t.”

    Happy weekend, friend!

  7. Happy Friday! I’ve been wanting to read this author for a long time so thank you!

My First Line Friday comes from a book I will be reading soon, Before We Were Strangers by Brenda Novak!

As far back as Sloane McBride could remember, she’d been told she was an ice-queen. Even the people closest to her, especially the people closest to her, complained about her reserve.

    Have a great weekend!

    1. Oh she is an ice queen really? LOL Susan I finished the book! I read till 2 AM it was so good!
