Hi dear friends,

I’m apologizing again as I’ve been very bad at following my feed this week.

Work has been really intense like six meetings a day plus a training I had to give so I was exhausted by the evening. I love my job and it’s really interesting but the week has been over the top! I took a nap after work today. A nap!

Yes I love napping. Not for a long time 15 to 20 minutes and I’m good to go but it says it all!

Anyway today is Friday and I hope to catch up with all of you this weekend!

Let’s go into our lines will you?

First Line Friday is a weekly event hosted by Hoarding Books.

It’s really easy all you have to do is open the book that you are reading or the first book you get your hands on, open it and write the first lines.

It would be fantastic of course if you could visit the other participants and comment on their posts. Comments are blogger’s currency LOL

Here are my first lines:

“Face it Eric. You’re a f@ckboy”. I turned away from the shapely a@ss I’d been checking out, and frowned”.

These lines come from an ARC of Chaser by Kylie Scott and it’s sweet, fun and nostalgic so far.

Synopsis:

Love isn’t always NEAT…

Bartender and all round bad boy, Eric Collins, has come to a crossroads. It’s time to take life seriously and maybe even attempt to settle down. If only the person he was hoping to settle down with didn’t turn out to be pregnant.

Starting over in a small town, Jean is determined to turn her wild lifestyle around and be the kind of mother she always wished she’d had. Since local bar owner and all round hottie, Eric, is now determined to steer clear of her pregnant self, it should be easy. When she goes into labor during a snowstorm and her car slides on some ice, however, it’s Eric who comes to the rescue.

There seems to be a bond between them now, but is it enough? And can Eric give up his manwhore ways to be the man Jean needs?

What are you lines today? Leave them in a comment below.

Happy Friday and thanks for reading!

Sophie

  1. I am sorry for all the naps I refused as a child..I’m 54 and I try to nap at least once on the weekend …I feel like my cat lying in the sun when I do lol

  2. I like the sound of Jean. I hope Eric turns out to deserve her 🙂

I’m featuring The Heart Between Us by Lindsay Harrel on my blog today (brilliant novel!), and I’m currently reading Grace Restored by Toni Shiloh. Here’s the first line of Chapter One:

Victory was hers. The judge had sentenced Brett Donn to twenty years in prison for operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

  3. Hi Sophie! Thanks so much for linking up with First Line Fridays at Hoarding Books! One note, though – we request that posts with profanity, etc. indicate so by including a (Mature) tag when you link up. (You can check out our guidelines on HB’s website) Since most of our bloggers are ‘clean fiction’ bloggers, it just lets us know that this isn’t going to be clean fiction 😉 lol. Thank ya!

My current first line is from Robin E. Mason’s The Silent Song of Winter: “The sounds of the swamp in winter would scare another person but not me. I grew up here.”

    1. Thanks for the heads up Carrie!!! I already had toned it down but I’ll warn “mature” next time as you are totally right! I don’t want to offend anyone! My bad really.

  4. Happy Friday! Get some rest Sophie!!

My FLF comes from a book I will be starting later this weekend, Love’s Journey in SugarCreek by Sienna Miller.

The leather on Rachel Troyer’s gun holster creaked as she shifted her weight on the kitchen chair. Her three elderly Amish aunts shot wary glances toward the offending weapon.

Have a great weekend and Happy Reading!
