Hi dear friends,
Today I am happy to welcome another blogger friend: Heather @bookandablanket !
Heather loves romance like I do and is a really friendly and busy bee of a woman!
Today she wants to share the “meet cute” in love stories.
Thank you so much to Sophie for inviting me to participate in her Romance and Love Celebration. Romance books are my addiction and today I want to talk about one of the most pivotal moments in a love story. The meet cute. The urban dictionary describes this as a scenario in which two individuals are brought together in some unlikely, zany, destined-to-fall-in-love-and-be-together-forever sort of way (the more unusual, the better). This first meeting sets the stage for the whole book and can make or break a book because first impressions matter! Here are my favorite Meet Cutes:
Favorite Five Meet Cutes
When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon
A YA story about an Indian couple who have been set up for an arranged marriage. They live on opposite sides of the country but their parents use a summer camp that they both attend as the perfect place for them to meet. Unfortunately Rishi was the only one aware of the setup and so when a strange Indian boy approaches Dimple and says “Hello future Wife!”, she does the only logical thing. She throws her Starbucks Iced Coffee at him.
Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating by Christina Lauren
One the most amazing friends to lovers romance filled with humor and witty banter. This first meet certainly did not set the stage for an immediate romantic connection between these two. Quirky heroine Hazel propositions Josh in her inebriated state and after receiving absolutely no response to her proposition in true Josh style, she precedes to vomit all over his shoes.
Lingus by Mariana Zapata
Tristan is definitely an uncoventional hero in this story of love and acceptance. He’s an adult fim star and as unlikely as it is, he meets the eventual love of his life Kat, who was dragged by her best friend to a Porn Convention. On their first encounter, much to her horror, he calls her out on pulling out a wedgie. I loved him immediately!
Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell
The bus ride to and from school can be one of the most stressful parts of high school. Certainly where you sit can determine where you fall in the complex social hierarchy. So when Park makes room for social outcast Eleanor to sit beside him, it is one of the most simplest yet powerful moments. Thus begins one of the most beautiful friendships turned first love relationship.
The Bronze Horseman by Paullina Simons
This is one of the greatest love stories ever told! This had such a simple beginning for what was to become an epic romance! A young girl eating an ice cream cone as she waits for her bus notices a young soldier staring at her from across the street. Their connection is instant and they both feel it. He crosses the street to introduce himself and then they both proceed to extend their time together by missing their respective buses and then eventually their stops once they actually board a bus. Their conversation is effortless; casual but sincere. If they only knew what life had in store for them!
Heather’s bio
Hi I’m Heather and welcome to my romance book blog! I pretty much read all genres of romance but I have a special love for forbidden romances and alpha male heroes and HEAs are always preferred.

Thank you for reading and stay tuned for more to come tomorrow!

Well look at that…I learned something new because I’d never heard of this trope (scenes, moments, categories?)! How fun, I guess I’ve been living under my rock too much lately, LOL! 🙂
Thanks for sharing these recommendations! I loved Eleanor and Park! Josh and Hazel is on my TBR list. I haven’t read The Bronze Horseman but I’ve heard great things about it.
I still need to read the Bronze Horseman too Raven!
I’m reading a cute meet right now. They always make me grin:) I really need to read some of these!
You? A cute meet???? I need the title Laura! :-D))))
I really need to get to reading some of these! I feel anywhere I comment I haven’t read the books, though many are on my tbr! I think my favorite meet cute was from The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight. They meet on a plane to the UK, and of course fall in love. So good.
I already love it based on the title Ash!!!
I love a good meet-cute! Dimple and Rishi had such a classic meet-cute… which kind of failed. LOL And Eleanor and Park… oh, my heart! Those two precious people. Rowell so perfectly captured first love in that book. The way there were both so painfully aware and every time their fingers touched or a hand brushed an arm… I love those two!
Well now I need to read them Tanya!
These look good. Thanks for the recommendations 🙂
You are so welcome Jacquie!
