Hi friends,

Today is Sunday, time to look back in the rearview mirror and talk about my week in and out of the blog. As usual I am linking up to the Sunday Post hosted for years by Kimberly @caffeinatedreviewer .

In my private life

I am posting this very late on a Sunday because:

1.My work week has been crazy

Some colleagues are sick and others are on holiday. So the boss (that’s me) did the “dirty” job with the rest of them. I can hardly expect of my colleagues to do their best in time of need if I don’t set the example right? Leading by example has always been my moto and so I did the job right alongside them. It reminded me of old times and it was a nice change from my boss’s duties but as I was still expected to do my own job too….that made for very long work days!

2. I’ve been helping the kids to begin the new school year and move them away.

Friday night was a late drive to the station to fetch my daughter who was coming back from France.

Then on Saturday we rushed to her dorm with everything in my (huge) trunk to settle her for her new university year.

Tomorrow will be rinse and repeat for my second kid and I’ll leave the house at 5:30AM. Oh joy!

3. We played host for two friends on Saturday

Again, my request was: you come if the weather is nice and we can safely eat outside with social distancing and all.

And would you know: Belgium is now having a mini heat wave so we could host them and spend some good time together.

So that was my week in a nutshell!

On the blog (click on the graphic to read the post)

Miracle, this week I reviewed three books and had two posts!

The Wreckage of Us by Brittainy C Cherry

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson 4,5 stars for that YA crime/mystery!

And one that you have to listen on audio: The Extraordinaries y TJ Klune (5 stars)

And on Tuesday we posted about characters whose names begin by F to J

And I also wanted to post for the Top Ten Tuesday as the topic was book I’d recommend to my younger self!

.

This week on the blogosphere

Epic reads asks “Do you belong in a science fiction or fantasy world?” Take the quiz HERE.

  1. My week was definitely hectic too. I’m normally expected to do two jobs too. I’m a teaching assistant but still expected to do that job when I’m also asked to cover the teaching… Yet if I’m off the teachers are never expected to also do my job!

  2. You really had a busy week, Sophie! I know all about moving the kids and getting them where they’re supposed to be – we had our two moves in July. You know, when it’s over 90 degrees outside and extra fun climbing all those stairs. Hope everything went smoothly!

  3. Wow you’ve been busy! We’ve been much the same way with school beginning. although university here went virtual due to cases spiking, so it’s all a little different. Glad you were able to have company and have good weather to go with!

    Be well this week Sophie!!!

  4. Yayy! I’m so glad things are going well for you! Moreover, I wish you good luck for you and your daughters! And don’t forget to rest and definitely do not overworked yourself!

  5. Haha, I guess raising kids has its own challenges no matter what age they are! I’m going to be helping my youngest start kindergarten online tomorrow, and reading this post about you taking your kids off to university, I can’t help but imagine myself doing the same one day! It seems so far away now, but I know the years will pass like no time at all. Good luck to you and your kids!

  6. I’m really bummed, I haven’t been getting email notifications for your posts, and I’m afraid I’ve missed a bunch! I’ll have to try to catch up…good luck with your daughters! We take my son to school next week

  7. Oof, 530am is the worst time to get up – wishing you luck that long day!
Hopefully the following weeks shall be less overworked and more time for yourself with the kids gone back to school xx

  8. Blimey – that is full on! Moving your daughter the day after she arrived from France. We don’t have that option as our Government has decided that anyone from France, Spain, Italy and a number of other countries have to be quarantined for a fortnight once they arrive back in the UK. You definitely need a clone – I hope the coming week is a quieter one, Sophie – you’ve earnt it!

  9. Wow that is a lot of moving around, getting kids settled! Glad the weather cooperated with your plan to have company. Hopefully this week will be less busy after dropping off your 2nd university child.

  10. So glad the weather played. ice for you to enjoy the company of friends. And I bet you will miss and fret over both kids going back to University. Just take not to tire yourself out now, doing double shifts at work.

  11. It’s always a good thing when the weather cooperates with your plans. That’s fabulous! Super Mom is in the house. I hope you get some “me” time in-between work and mom-ing.
