HOUSTON I HAVE A PROBLEM!

This is nearly what I told the girls on our Twitter group “Calendar Girls” today!

Because the topic of our monthly meme is Most Awaited Book in 2019! And I have published my “part 1 ” of the long list of books I am awaiting for 2019 and you’ll get a part 2 and 3!

Plus tomorrow’s topic for Top 5 Tuesday is the “Top 5 awaited books” in 2019 (rest assured that I tweaked the theme A LOT! You’ll get only new content there).

See my predicament?

I don’t want to bore you out so what can I do today?

Well I have decided to come with only one book! Yes one! And no it won’t be The Wicked King (even if it’s my most awaited) but a book that I think deserve more love!

You know that I love to root for the underdog right?

You know these books that you found fabulous and are so astonished that it does not show on everyone’s shelf. Yes how come you don’t have it already????

Because let’s face it this book or rather the first one in the series is just superb and totally unexpected!

I am speaking of the sequel for Honor Among Thieves also announced under the name of Honor Bound!

I read Honor Among Thieves after having read very enthusiastic reviews by Shanah and Raven. Because I was so not into science fiction (but I am changing my mind …).

I was blown away by that book. I never expected a science fiction book to give me so many emotions! No kidding I was crying reading some scenes because it was just beautiful! The bond between Zara (human) and the leviathan Nadim was … everything. I can’t explain what happened with me while reading the book. I am truly speechless but it resonated so deeply. And it was totally unexpected.

I would compare this to love at first sight. But with a book. And a platonic love at that!

For once a book which is romance-less has won my heart! Yes yes I know Hell must have frozen.

With only 2070 ratings and 514 reviews on Goodreads I dare call this book totally underestimated! If you compare with The Cruel Prince by Holly Black it gathered more than 65.600 ratings and more than 12.300 reviews! See my point here?

So I feel very protective of Honor Among Thieves! Kind of like August Pullman’s mom (Wonder by RJ Palacio) when she leaves him at the school’s doors with his space helmet and all.

That’s why today my winner for Calendar Girl is the sequel Honor Bound by Rachel Caine and Ann Aguirre

Synopsis

Zara Cole was a thief back on Earth, but she’s been recently upgraded to intergalactic fugitive. On the run after a bloody battle in a covert war that she never expected to be fighting, Zara, her co-pilot Beatriz, and their Leviathan ship Nadim barely escaped the carnage with their lives. Now Zara and her crew of Honors need a safe haven, far from the creatures who want to annihilate them. But with two wounded Leviathan to treat, plus human and non-human refugees to help, they’ll have to settle for the nearest outpost, called the Sliver: a wild, dangerous warren of alien criminals. Zara’s skills from the Zone may be invaluable. However, Zara discovers that the secrets of the Sliver may have the power to turn the tide of the war they left behind—but in the wrong direction. Soon Zara will have to make a choice: stand against the ultimate evil or run from it. But she’s never walked away from a fight.

Honor Bound is the second installment in Rachel Caine and Ann Aguirre’s thrilling and fresh space saga.

Calendar Girl is a monthly meme now hosted by Katie @nevernotreding and Adrienne @darquedreamer

but created by Melanie at MNBernard Books, and Flavia at Flavia the Bibliophile.

Each month we get a new theme and choose our favorite book for the theme. The participants get to vote for their favorite. There is also a Twitter chat spanning as last month on several days!

Now what would be your underdog that you can’t wait to read in 2019?

Thanks for reading!

Sophie

  2. Oh? I have seen Honor Among Thieves around, but never properly checked it out. And now i’m like “omg, Norrie, what are you doing? Get on with the program!”
So yes, basically, i need this 😀

Also, it’s nice to see you are making friends with sci-fi.

    1. Hahahaha yes Norri between you, Shanah and Alexandra all you friends of scifi you contaminated my mind LOL Seriously you need to read this one and then I hope you’ll love it and shout about it 😉

    1. Well that’s why I am writing this post Alicia because I honestly think many more readers and bloggers should read this one!

  3. I still need to pick up this series. It sounds pretty interesting, and the covers are really nice. Choosing just one book for this post because of all the other anticipated release posts you have coming up is a really smart decision. And I look forward to seeing all of your other anticipated reads.

    1. Hahahaha Danielle I was only able to choose one book because I wrote (and will release) other posts about my most awaited books for 2019!

  4. Yeeeeeees! Rachel Caine is one of my favorite authors so I was so surprised when the first book came out because I hadn’t heard anything about it. I feel like it hasn’t gotten very much attention but her books always capture me so I totally need to start this series because I have no doubt it will be amazing
