Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
Today’s theme is: Books I Read/Avoided Because of the Hype
I chose another angle, one inspired by Lindsey @lindseyreads !
First I don’t avoid reading hyped books because I am intrigued and want to know what all the fuss is about! The only book I avoid are “TikTok sensation” because they never work for me! Bookstagram, Goodreads, Bloggers recommendations, heck yes!
TikTok: no.
So let’s have a look at these more or less recent hyped books that I read and see if they were worth my money!
Now remember that reading is personal and as my friend Micky would say: my yack can be your yeah!

Your post just made me realize “tiktok sensations” typically don’t work for me either! Im seeing that in blurbs more and more, though.

I didn’t get the hype for Addie LaRue either. It was just okay.
I really liked The Spellshop as well.
Haha I definitely agree about TikTok Sensations! Loved Fourth Wing and definitely still want to try The Spellshop and Lessons in Chemistry. Agree about Powerless and The Hurricane Wars (though I do want to continue both series).
Because we just HAVE to know what happens LOL

This is good to hear about As Long As the Lemon Tree Grows. I’ve been meaning to get to that one forever.
It is an amazing but harsh one!
I also really enjoyed Lessons in Chemistry. There were so many amazing things done in that story even if it was not quite historically accurate.
I agree Sam and I hope she’ll soon give us another great book!
