Firts of all my apologies to Dani as I am posting one day late!!!
I was just busy for two hours yesterday creating the perfect (I hope) teaser for my review of Bright We Burn that you’ll get to see tomorrow.
Seriously I tried tricks I never tried before on Photoshop and it took me ages but I was so happy with the results! As I was working today and had to get up at the crack of dawn (no joking 5 AM is my usual work morning) well I had not time to post this one.
Now what is I Heart Characters?
I Heart Characters! is a weekly meme hosted by Dani @ Perspective of a Writer to showcase our book blogger lover for characters! Each week she’ll supply a topic and you’ll supply the character. Post on whatever day suits you, about characters from whatever media you love (books, movies, K-dramas, television, manga, anime, webtoons, whatever!) and link up on Thursday so YOU and others can blog hop and share the character love.
Today (well, yesterday)’s topic: A Minor Character who Needs their own Story (Literally any character you want an expanded story about them…)
For once I don’t care if this one has already been chosen as I really hope that she gets her story!
I’ve loved Manon Blackeak from the Ironteeth clan right from the beginning!
She is bloodthirsty and frightening.
“Witches didn’t need blood to survive, but humans didn’t need wine, either.”
― Sarah J. Maas, Heir of Fire
I know she played the bad guy against Aelin and she killed and…
But what I love was that her character was in shades of grey.
Manon sees everything. Really everything.
She’ll doubt what she’s been told from decades, centuries even. Her Grand Mother may be the chief of their clan and Manon her favorite when she’ll understand what is happening in these mountains she’ll rebel!
Plus let’s face it she chose my beloved dragon Abraxos! The girl has great tastes. He was one of the smallests but the bravest too!
“Each of the scars, the chipped teeth and broken claws, the mutilated tail—they weren’t the markings of a victim. Oh, no. They were the trophies of a survivor. Abraxos was a warrior who’d had all the odds stacked against him and survived. Learned from it. Triumphed.”
― Sarah J. Maas, Heir of Fire
I loved witnessing her fight against Aelin. She was a worthy opponent and that’s what Aelin thought too!
“Aelin ran for Manon, leaping over the fallen stones, her ankle wrenching on loose debris.
The island rocked with her every step, and the sunlight was scalding, as if Mala were holding that island aloft with every last bit of strength the goddess could summon in this land.
Then Aelin was upon Manon Blackbeak, and the witch lifted hate-filled eyes to her. Aelin hauled off stone after stone from her body, the island beneath them buckling.
“You’re too good a fighter to kill,” Aelin breathed, hooking an arm under Manon’s shoulders and hauling her up. The rock swayed to the left-but held. Oh, gods. “If I die because of you, I’ll beat the shit out of you in hell.”
She could have sworn the witch let out a broken laugh as she got to her feet, nearly dead weight in Aelin’s arms.”
― Sarah J. Maas, Queen of Shadows
Here is what I wrote about Manon in Queen of the Shadows
“Manon of the Blackbeak Clan, Wing Leader witch is a complex character and I loved how Sarah J Maas played with her emotions and conflicts. Manon and her Thirteen side story was truly fascinating to follow. It adds layers to the book, all individual stories running alongside to collide at some point in a clash of swords and knives. When Manon meets Aelin, arrows, punches and sparks fly.”
Now let’s admire some fantastic fanart that I found on Sarah J Maas’s Pinterest account!

Now do tell me who would be your favorite second character that would deserve his or her own story?
Thanks for reading and happy Friday!
Haven’t met her yet because I still have to read the third book in the series, but I have heard great things! I am so excited to meet all these new characters people love! Going to complete the series soon 🙂
Oh you are in for so much fun!
I haven’t read any of Maas’ works but I do love that fanart, and Manon’s reasoning for choosing her dragon is badass haha
Maybe one day you’ll give it a go Cam?
Why do I keep seeing this series? Why is it that every time I forget about it, something comes along to add it to my TBR again. I give in. I’ll read it.
Hahaha happy I pushed you to read it Tanya 😉
I’ve only knowm Manon for a while, one book actually. But i really like her! I hope she gets more Time in the spotlight in The books to come
Me too Hanna!!!
Great choice!!
Thank you!
GAHHH Sophie, you suck me into your fangirl wake everytime you talk about the Throne of Glass series! This is why that book is on my TBR for this year… I want to meet these badass women (and the dragons!!) And the fanart is too, too gorgeous! I love both of them… it would have been hard for me to pick between the two of them. I love the first one because she seems like a slightly older woman there and set in her power… While the second one is all young and gorgeous badassery! And the colors! Thanks so much for sharing! ❤️
Hahaha glad to suck you into my passionate posts Dani 😉
I feel like I’ve heard of her before but I’ve never read Throne of Glass so she doesn’t stick out quite as much. But she sounds cool!!
Hhahaha Danielle I don’t know if cool is the right word. Intense certainly!
I am so with your. Manon is a standout character in the ToG books, and I loved the direction Maas took her character. There is no doubt in my mind that she could carry her own book.
Yay a fellow admirer! I hope she’ll have her book laike other characters from ACOTAR will 😉
i haven’t read the books but she seems like a cool character.
Love these pictures, especially the one in the black armour. I would totally play this story as a video game with that art style
Oh yes Norrie the pictures are just fantastic. And there is so much more on Sarah’s board!
