Today is Sunday time to look back in the rearview mirror and talk about my week . I am linking up to the Sunday Post hosted for years by Kimberly@caffeinatedreviewer .Â
As it’s the first Sunday of June, I’ll also post a wrap-up for May’s reads .
In my private life
Happy Sunday!
It happened!
Yesterday afternoon I taught my first art class on how to paint book edges!
We had six “students” or rather participants and it was what I wanted: a small group to be able to follow properly and give advices.
After some introduction, I learned that one was an art teacher (not intimidating at all LOL) and four others had art training with two earning their lives from their art studies…
Compared to myself with no teaching degree nor having attended any art school save for two months more than thirty years ago it was daunting!
But all went really well!
We had a great time together, the spirit was cooperative and light. We smiled, laughed, chatted and … painted! All participants ended their day happy and satisfied! So that’s a win!
And I loved being among other art lovers!
The second class is nex Saturday but we are already talking or organizing a third one in September!
Here below are some pictures of the day and I also made a reel!

And here is the reel about that class.
May Wrap-Up
(click in the graphic to read the post)
In May I have read 12 books and some of them were big books! I found my favorite of the year or at least part of my three favorites so far!
Featured below are the five winners of this month!
Shanghai Immortal by A.Y Chao has vampires, demons and a sasshole heroine that I loved! Amazing debut!
Never a Hero by Vanessa Len was an amazing sequel of an amazing debut!
Happy Place by Emily Henry is the best second chance romance that I have read!
In the Lives of Puppets by TJ Klune is an amazing Pinocchio retelling mixed with AI and robot supremacy!
And my WINNER of the month, of the year maybe is…
Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros!!! I know I’ll reread it soon LOL
Thanks for reading!
Sophie

Congrats on teaching your first art class. It looks like it went really well!
It did Suzanne!
Glad your first class went really well, Sophie! And wow, that does looks like a super nice location too.
Hope you’ll have a wonderful June!
Thank you Lindsey!
Glad your first class went so well, Sophie – sounds like you had tons of fun.
I did Teri!
Your classes started indeed with the proverbial “bang”! Well done 🙂
Thank you Maddalena!
So glad to hear your class went well! I’m sure having an art background for a lot of the participants probably helped, painting page edges is difficult enough lol!
It indeed helped Mogsy!
I’m so glad you had such a great class experience. Your art is beautiful. Also you seem to be reading such amazing books!
Anne – Books of My Heart
It indeed went really well!
What a great month you have had there in May. I think that’s so wonderful. I know how many have really enjoyed Fourth Wing. Yay for art class! Glad it went well. I do love to color but I can’t draw worth anything lol so I am so envious. Hope you have a wonderful week Sophie!
Thank you Renee!
Glad to hear the art class with a success! Even though you’re not a professional artist, Sophie, your books look beautiful! I keep seeing Fourth Wing and I’m thinking about it!
Thank you Rachel!
Congrats! It looks like it went really well Sophie!
“sasshole” I love that word.
Thank you Greg!
I am so glad your first art class went well, Sophie! I know the second will too. I enjoyed the reel you shared, seeing some of the book edges. So beautiful!
It looks like you read some great books in May! I want to read them all too now! I have a couple of them on my wish list, but will be adding the rest now too.
I hope you have a great week!
Thank you!!
I’m so glad the art class went well! Looks like everyone had a successful day! Congrats!
Thank you Samantha!
I loved the reel of your art class. It looks like such fun! Fourth Wing sounds great! Here’s my SP: https://bonniereadsandwrites.com/2023/06/04/sunday-post-seeing-clearly-sundaypost/
It was fun!
Congratulations on the first class! It’s kind of flattering so many artistic people felt this was a worthy use of time. Looks like it was so much fun, and I have to say, what pretty spot you had for the class.
That spot was perfection and the weather so lovely too! I couldn’t have hoped for better Sam!
That is so cool!! Congrats on the class!
Happy June!
Thank you! Happy June too!
Huge congratulations on the art class – I also loved the reel. The standard of artistry is amazing:)). And I’m delighted you loved Fourth Wing so much, as I’ve got it waiting in my audiobook library. I thought I’d start it during my birthday week (end of June) as a special treat just for me:)). Have a great week, Sophie
Thank you so much! I have been blessed with the people attending my class honestly!
The art class sounds amazing! And what a cool space to have it in. You’re making me want to learn to paint book edges
Please try Tammy 😉 I can help LOL
So glad it went well Sophie x
Me too Caro!!
