Hi friends,
Today is Sunday and it’s time to chat about what happened this week on the blog and in real life! As usual I am linking up to The Sunday Post hosted by Kimberly @caffeinatedreviewer
In my private life first
Well this was my last week off work and from Wednesday afternoon I’ve been plagued by the flu! Or a virus making it seem like the flu (I did not call the doctor as I was on holiday) as there was not one inch of my body who did not hurt like hell!
And of course it all happened the day before I had to drive my husband for a surgery, the last step after he fell from his bike in May! He was meant to leave the hospital the day self and I was so sick that, aside a quick trip to the chemist to haul something again chills, pain and fever, I slept the whole day in the seat in his room just feeling miserable! I had no energy to leave and come back. Nothing. Zilch!
I just took some medicine, slept, then read, then slept again and rinse repeat! I was so happy when I could get back home in the evening and take a long warm bath!
My sorry state lasted three days. Now, I don’t have fever anymore but begin what I suspect is a sinusitis! Yay! I am due back to work tomorrow so one day to heal 😀
I was feeling so bad that I had no energy to blog hop, go to Facebook or Instagram or …. So sorry if I did not comment back or visit you I just couldn’t.
I hope next week will be much better!
The bright side of being sick, because it’s important to find something positive in each situation, is that I have read three books in five days! One of them is just food for the soul: The Giver of Stars by Jojo Moyes!
On the blog
Well this will be pretty short as all activity stopped by Wednesday, aside pre scheduled posts! I have reviewed two books this week.
Scared Little Rabbits by A.V. Geiger: a good YA mystery/crime. 4 stars
Call Down the Hawk by Maggie Steifvater which was …disappointing to me and gave for an unpopular opinion! 3,5 stars
No discussion post this week, just the Top 5 Tuesday with the top authors I still need to read!

That’s it guys! I will do my best today to visit and answer comments I promise but just know that I am still not 100% back to health so I might be slow doing it!
Thanks for reading!
Sophie
I hope you’re feeling better Sophie! That sounds horrible. And I hope your husband’s surgery went well too.
Here’s to a better week for all… And 3 books in 5 days is awesome.
Thank you Nicci! Everyone is feeling better now!
I hope you are feeling better today, and I hope you get better fast <3 Good job on 3 books, but being sick sucks!
Finally yes Brittany! it took me one more week though.
I hope you feel much better now. Becoming sick while on holiday sucks. Everything is literally on hold and that is no good feeling. Wishing you and your husband a speedy recovery and that life turns to normal as soon as possible.
Thank you Vi!
Oh no, I hope you’re feeling better now!
After one more week yes!
Being sick is certainly no fun, but at least you were able to fight the blues with some books: they are indeed our best friends just as much as dogs!
Exactly Maddalena and as a dog mama I totally agree!
That’s such a bummer you got sick on your holiday but glad to hear you’re at least on the mend!
Thank you Daisy!
Yay for getting so many books read, but hate you had to be sick to do it. Hope you’re feeling better, Sophie!
Thank you Teri!
This must have been the week for it. I just drove my husband to weekend Urgent Care because he had a fever, chills, and infection. Hope you’re feeling better, Sophie! And, yay for finding that bright side. 🙂
Thank you Sophia Rose! I hope your husband is feeling better too!
Oh Sophie I hope you feel better soon!!
Thank you Meeghan!
Oh no, sorry to hear that! Flu is awful, but hope you’re on the mend and you recover quickly!
Thank you Mogsy! After one more week I finally feel better!
I didn’t have the flu but I had a terrible cold virus that I’m mostly over, but boy it was bad! I’m still coughing, but otherwise mostly okay. Sorry to hear you had the flu! Awful that you had to stay in an uncomfortable chair at the hospital for your husband’s surgery while feeling so sick! Glad to hear you’re on the mend! 🙂
Well yes I was at the right place to be sick Rachel LOL
I’m so glad I got a flu shot this year, I will definitely be doing so again next year.
Wishing you a great reading week, take care!
Shelley Rae I think next year I’ll get the shot too!
Ugh, the flu sucks. I really hope you feel better soon!
Thank you Suzanne!
Wow, I hope you feel better quickly. The flu sucks. Congrats on getting so many books read, though. I hope you have a great week!
Thank you AJ!!!
So sorry you were sick—and horrible timing for it too!
Well yes! But I think there’s never a good timing for being sick Nicole *sigh*
Being sick on holiday is the worst! Though I’m not sure there really is ever a good time to be sick! Hope you are feeling better soon!!
Thank you!!!!
I hope you feel better quickly, Sophie! The week sounds so long and exhausting but I’m glad that you managed to get through it as best as you can while being by your husband’s side! 😀
Well Lashaan I had to add one more “indoor” week to finally feel better!!!
I hope you are feeling better Sophie! I am currently homebound with a cold.
Oh no Kayla! I hope you feel better now!
I’m getting there. Hopefully I’ll be all better by next week.
SOrry to hear that you’ve been so sick lately! I hope you are well again soon! <3
Thank you Stacy!!!
Sorry you were so sick! That is miserable! Hopefully you are all better before returning to work. I hope your husband’s surgery went okay!
Well Samantha I had to add one more week indoor to finally feel better!
Ugh, what a miserable time being sick. And now sinusitis? That’s just insult to injury. But 3 books in 5 days is quite a silver lining!
I had to have some good out of this mess right?
Full body ache sounds like the flu. I had it once, and I thought I was going to die. I am so sorry you had to experience that. It seems unjust that such a virus exists. I have been seeing so much praise for the Moyes book. I am tempted to give it a go. I don’t read much historical fiction, but I have had a lot of success with Moyes in the past.
Well yes it was hell Sam! And please try Jojo’s book!
Is there a Sick People Club I can join? I was suuuper sick all last week, and I’m finally feeling better. Unfortunately 2/3 kids are now sick. Boo! Tis the season, right? Glad you’re feeling somewhat better! That’s disappointing about Call Down the Hawk. Womp.
Lindsi @ Do You Dog-ear?
Well Lindsi yes you can join but I hope this would be just a “one time this year” kind of club! 😉
Oh no! I hope you and your hubby feel better ASAP Sophie!
Thank you Kim! After one week indoor I finally feel better 😉
Oh, no, the fluuuuu. I hope you feel better soon!
Thank you Jen!!!
Aw, I was afraid you might catch it after your kiddo was sick. There’s nothing worse than having things to do when you’re down and out. I hope hubby’s surgery went well, and that the sinitus is temporary {{hugs}}
Thank you Jacquie! One week later I finally feel better!!!
Sorry you’ve been so poorly and I’m glad you’re feeling better. Take it easy at work. Oh and I hope Hubby’s op went well and he’s recovering nicely too. ♥️
Thank you Flora!!!!
Oh I’m sorry you spent some of your vacation so sick. I hope you feel better as you get back into work. Have a lovely week and read some great books!
Thank you Anne!!!
Oh no, feel better!
Thank you Caro! Now after one week inside I do!
I sympathise with you, have been so I’ll since Wednesday (and my son), we went out today for first time and we both could only make 2 hours and had to come home (and an hour of that was on the bus!!!) Damn these winter germs!
Ack hope you feel better quick! That’s no good being sick (especially when you have to go back to work, which is it’s own kind of ugh lol). Anyway hope you had a good weekend. 🙂
And yay for the quiz :):)
Well Greg it took me one more week but now I feel better!
Soft kitty. Warm kitty. Little ball of fur. Happy kitty. Sleepy kitty. Purr. Purr. Purr. I hope that works! LOL It sounds like you caught the flu and I hope you feel better soon:)
Hahaha well now I feel better Laura but I’ve been confined inside the house for one week!!!
Oh man…being sick sucks enough…it’s even worse when there is sh*t you’ve still gotta get done, like taking someone to have a surgery done. Ugh…you poor thing. You probably felt worse than the husband under the knife.
Hope you feel better soon!
Thank you Jinjer!!! I feel finally better!
I’ve read 8 of your books to read so I think we’ve got the same idea.
Yessss!
Feel better Sophie!
Thank you Susan!
