Hi friends,

Today is Sunday and it’s time to chat about what happened this week on the blog and in real life! As usual I am linking up to The Sunday Post hosted by Kimberly @caffeinatedreviewer

In my private life first

Well this was my last week off work and from Wednesday afternoon I’ve been plagued by the flu! Or a virus making it seem like the flu (I did not call the doctor as I was on holiday) as there was not one inch of my body who did not hurt like hell!

And of course it all happened the day before I had to drive my husband for a surgery, the last step after he fell from his bike in May! He was meant to leave the hospital the day self and I was so sick that, aside a quick trip to the chemist to haul something again chills, pain and fever, I slept the whole day in the seat in his room just feeling miserable! I had no energy to leave and come back. Nothing. Zilch!

I just took some medicine, slept, then read, then slept again and rinse repeat! I was so happy when I could get back home in the evening and take a long warm bath!

My sorry state lasted three days. Now, I don’t have fever anymore but begin what I suspect is a sinusitis! Yay! I am due back to work tomorrow so one day to heal 😀

I was feeling so bad that I had no energy to blog hop, go to Facebook or Instagram or …. So sorry if I did not comment back or visit you I just couldn’t.

I hope next week will be much better!

The bright side of being sick, because it’s important to find something positive in each situation, is that I have read three books in five days! One of them is just food for the soul: The Giver of Stars by Jojo Moyes!

On the blog

Well this will be pretty short as all activity stopped by Wednesday, aside pre scheduled posts! I have reviewed two books this week.

Scared Little Rabbits by A.V. Geiger: a good YA mystery/crime. 4 stars

Call Down the Hawk by Maggie Steifvater which was …disappointing to me and gave for an unpopular opinion! 3,5 stars

No discussion post this week, just the Top 5 Tuesday with the top authors I still need to read!

On the blogosphere and literary world

This weekly quizz by EpicReads offers you to determine if you rather are like Elsa or Anna based on your favorite book characters!

Aaand I have just learned that I could veer anti hero 😯 as my result is:

“You’re more like Elsa!

You’re more on the reserved side, and many people around you probably don’t know what you’re truly capable of. You might even veer into antihero territory if you were a YA character of your own. But at the end of the day, we know you’ll always do the right thing. Probably…”

Plus if you want to vote for the Book Shimmy Awards just go there: https://www.epicreads.com/blog/2019-book-shimmy-awards-nominations/?utm_source=3089299&utm_medium=SilverpopMailing&utm_campaign=11.16.2019%20Epic%20Reads%20Wkly%20Recap%20(1)&emu=f/o7E7EbquTrMhT2CCjbqih6ao6wCTWydTj9k9uX8ts=&spMailingID=16586839&spUserID=MTg1MTc0MjcwMjQ1S0&spJobID=1760964040&spReportId=MTc2MDk2NDA0MAS2

As I’ve said I did not blog hop past Wednesday but still want to mention this interesting post by Sophia explaining why she does not have tons of bookshelves on Goodreads!

Why I Don’t Have a Million Goodreads Shelves | ft. the Shelves I Currently Have

That’s it guys! I will do my best today to visit and answer comments I promise but just know that I am still not 100% back to health so I might be slow doing it!

Thanks for reading!

Sophie

  1. I hope you feel much better now. Becoming sick while on holiday sucks. Everything is literally on hold and that is no good feeling. Wishing you and your husband a speedy recovery and that life turns to normal as soon as possible.

  2. This must have been the week for it. I just drove my husband to weekend Urgent Care because he had a fever, chills, and infection. Hope you’re feeling better, Sophie! And, yay for finding that bright side. 🙂

  3. I didn’t have the flu but I had a terrible cold virus that I’m mostly over, but boy it was bad! I’m still coughing, but otherwise mostly okay. Sorry to hear you had the flu! Awful that you had to stay in an uncomfortable chair at the hospital for your husband’s surgery while feeling so sick! Glad to hear you’re on the mend! 🙂

  4. Ugh, what a miserable time being sick. And now sinusitis? That’s just insult to injury. But 3 books in 5 days is quite a silver lining!

  5. Full body ache sounds like the flu. I had it once, and I thought I was going to die. I am so sorry you had to experience that. It seems unjust that such a virus exists. I have been seeing so much praise for the Moyes book. I am tempted to give it a go. I don’t read much historical fiction, but I have had a lot of success with Moyes in the past.

  6. Is there a Sick People Club I can join? I was suuuper sick all last week, and I’m finally feeling better. Unfortunately 2/3 kids are now sick. Boo! Tis the season, right? Glad you’re feeling somewhat better! That’s disappointing about Call Down the Hawk. Womp.

    Lindsi @ Do You Dog-ear?

  7. Aw, I was afraid you might catch it after your kiddo was sick. There’s nothing worse than having things to do when you’re down and out. I hope hubby’s surgery went well, and that the sinitus is temporary {{hugs}}

  8. Sorry you’ve been so poorly and I’m glad you’re feeling better. Take it easy at work. Oh and I hope Hubby’s op went well and he’s recovering nicely too. ♥️

      1. I sympathise with you, have been so I’ll since Wednesday (and my son), we went out today for first time and we both could only make 2 hours and had to come home (and an hour of that was on the bus!!!) Damn these winter germs!

  9. Ack hope you feel better quick! That’s no good being sick (especially when you have to go back to work, which is it’s own kind of ugh lol). Anyway hope you had a good weekend. 🙂

And yay for the quiz :):)

  10. Soft kitty. Warm kitty. Little ball of fur. Happy kitty. Sleepy kitty. Purr. Purr. Purr. I hope that works! LOL It sounds like you caught the flu and I hope you feel better soon:)

  11. Oh man…being sick sucks enough…it’s even worse when there is sh*t you’ve still gotta get done, like taking someone to have a surgery done. Ugh…you poor thing. You probably felt worse than the husband under the knife.

    Hope you feel better soon!
