Synopsis

Mini audiobook review
3,75Β stars
5 stars in the beginning and then around 3,5 to 4 stars.
It was a little bit like a soufflΓ©: very promising in the beginning when warm and original out of the oven but some parts later on dragged for too long hence deflating the enjoyment.
What I liked:
-the idea: getting to know a porn star and developing a relationship with him;
-the βno shame for liking pornβ that Kat and her friends showed. It was refreshing and yes, why should they be ashamed right?
-the deep friendship between Kat, Nicole and Zoe. They were really tight and Kat went to great length to show her support;
-the friendship between Tristan and Kat as I was sorry for Tristan to only have one friend so far. It was cute seeing him all boyish and joyful to have another friend.
What I didnβt like:
The hero was a little bit too good to be true, too kind, too beautiful and the female character never stopped reminding us of his beauty. It became old quickly. In fact; from the moment where they truly where together it became a βdΓ©jΓ vuβ and repetitive. Too βsmooth sailβ to keep the attention and interesting.
Also, this was the hottest and most explicit book written by Mariana Zapata! To my great astonishment too, it was a faster slow burn than MZβs usual motto.
I only learned now that it was her first book so she probably was looking for her βsignatureβ and it gave us later some amazing jewels like The Wall,Β From Lukov with Love and Kulti. I am aware that itβs not fair comparing Lingus to her other work as an author has to grow into her writing.
But even with the less stellar parts it still is an enjoyable read that have you laughing at the banter.
Have you read this book ?
Thanks for reading!
I like your food analogy hahahah Did you eat a soufflΓ© recently to think of it for this review?! π
No but it was one of my mom’s favorite dishes to prepare π
Sophie!! I’ll add this one to my recent MZ reading binge… Have you read Under Locke? I read it (and Lukov) last week, and I enjoyed it, but I feel like it was maybe published pretty early on too? It didn’t have the same level of heartbreak the Winnipeg did, but it had SO much potential (and I liked Dex way better than Aidan too).
Under Locke was her second one I think Meeghan! But my favorites are the Wall, Kulti and From Lukov.
I need to read Kulti!
I’ve yet to read anything by Zapata and I’m thinking this probably isn’t the one I should start with.
No it’s not! If you want to begin on a high note, trye From Lukov with Love or The Wall Tanya!
This is one of the only two books by MZ along with Dear Aaron. And I didn’t know this is her first work. π π
I enjoyed this one but I agree – her jewels are The Wall, Kulti, Lukov and Wait for It
I love this audiobook challenge, will have to make sure I’ll link up in December. Remind me please π
I prefer listening to Mariana Zapata’s books since they’re so long. It’s been ages since I listened to this one, but I remember liking it.
I read it, but thankfully nearly last, after I fell in love with Zapata’s slow burn romances. My first and still my fave was Wall. I was hooked. Lingus is my least favorite.
