Synopsis
t’s been an enjoyable and murder-free time for Judith, Suzie and Becks – AKA the Marlow Murder Club – since the events of last year. The most exciting thing on the horizon is the upcoming wedding of Marlow grandee, Sir Peter Bailey, to his nurse, Jenny Page. Sir Peter is having a party at his grand mansion on the river Thames the day before the wedding, and Judith and Co. are looking forward to a bit of free champagne.
But during the soiree, there’s a crash from inside the house, and when the Marlow Murder Club rush to investigate, they are shocked to find the groom-to-be crushed to death in his study.
The study was locked from the inside, so the police don’t consider the death suspicious. But Judith disagrees. As far as she’s concerned, Peter was murdered! And it’s up to the Marlow Murder Club to find the killer before he or she strikes again…

The gang is back in a locked murder crime!
Take three ladies ranging from their forties to eighties.
Make one the pastor wife, a walk the line kind of woman and a stickler for details with an eagle eye for fashion and decoration (Bex)
The other one is a brash dog walker with some financial problems, a shrewd mind for cons and a love for the spotlight be it on the radio or the television (Susy)
And the third one loves her brandy, makes crosswords for a living, will never ever leave a puzzle or riddle unfinished and loves swimming naked in the Tames (Judith)
Invite these ladies to the pre wedding reception of a local lord and add the death of said lord in a locked room: crushed by the fall of a cabinet.
Then try to convince them there wasn’t foul play and the death is natural. You will never succeed as the gang is convinced sir Peter has been murdered and will go on a quest to prove it!
Especially as their favorite PI, Tanika, has been put aside after her superior comes back from his leave and he is convinced there is no murder !
This looked like a Cluedo game looking for who (the son? The bride to be? The daughter? The gardener? The son’s girlfriend) did it. The where was easy but the how was far from simple to discover!
This is a very good , smart and very entertaining cozy mystery with well fleshed out character whose quirks and flaws make them so relatable!
