My bookish goals for 2026

Hi friends,

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

Today’s theme is: Goals for 2026 (Bookish or not! Share your reading goals, personal goals, etc.)

I don’t know if I will reach ten goals but here we go!

  1. I want to keep blogging.

That sounds evident but this is far from it. Blogging takes a lot of time on top of other social media. And it seems that blogs are less “in” than they used to be.

BUT the blog is my own space! There is no one to block me if I post a giveaway, or like more then fifty posts in one hour (I never do that because of lack of time) and this blog looks like me, graphics, books, meme , discussions and all!

Yet I don’t want to burn out so I scaled down to posting four times a week for two years now and that’s what works best for me.

2. I want to keep writing reviews

I think reviews are important to other readers and to authors. They also help me process the feelings I experienced while reading. They are a lasting memory. And for someone French speaking, it’s an excellent training.

3. I want to read 50 books.

I know I can read more than 50 but I don’t want the pressure with a too ambitious challenge. I have enough pressure in my day to day and work life. Reading is a hobby.

4. I want to listen to 50 books.

For the third (fourth?) year, I entered Caffeinated Reader (Kimberly)’s audiobook challenge and I set the level at Marathoner.

5. I want to keep discovering new authors and switching genres.

I love when I discover new authors or new genres. I usually “rotate” between romance, fantasy, romantasy, historical fiction, thrillers, cozy crime, cozy fantasy, young adult, dystopian, the occasional science fiction and “fiction”.

Some authors I discovered in the past months were Marjan Kamali, Ariel Sullivan Archer Sullivan, Robert Bennett Jackson, James Islington and many others.

I want to keep discovering other great voices that would become new favorites and one click.

6. I want to find balance on Instagram

These last few months have been very challenging. I had reached a steady level of likes and followers but since six months, maybe more, I feel like being irrelevant. I love aesthetics and it seems that all what people want are graphics. I love making graphics on the blog but Instagram was the one place where I got to post (hopefully) artistic photos of books.

It’s been disheartening and I am so tempted to post graphics too, until I remind myself that it’s not why I began my Instagram account.

So my goal is to keep doing what I love and chat with the people who like my content and enjoy what I have instead of wanting for more.

7. I want to keep being picky with ARCs and mainly mood read.

When I began blogging, I requested as many ARCs as possible. But I realized that I was becoming burned out as not every ARC was a hit and I was left with the embarrassing task to write something honest yet not hurtful either.

Now I have learned that I am essentially a mood reader and if I want to be happy (reading is a hobby, not a job) I should request few ARCs of books I think I would sincerely like and mood read all my heart’s content.

8. I want to attend a book event in England with my daughter

It’s become a tradition but she will probably work next year so we’ll see if it’s still possible and when.

That’s it! Thanks for reading.

  1. Wonderful goals. I have been off of Instagram for a while now, and I’m sad to hear it’s graphics heavy. I pretty much lost my desire for IG when reels took over. I miss IG just being about the beautiful photos.

  2. I’ve been trying to be super selective about the books I request also. I did what you did when I first started and accepted/requested everything I could, and they weren’t all winners. I’m still sorting through a backlog of books on NetGalley. Good luck with these!

  3. A lot of great goals! I set my number of books lower this year too so I won’t stress. Although I’m already a bit behind if I don’t read 10 a month! I am like you and also took tons of ARCs when I first learned about them. Now I still get some sent, but pick and choose what I read based on what sounds good to me, and I will DNF if they don’t work. Good luck with all your goals this year!

  4. ARCs are fun, but they do come with extra stress if you can’t stay on top of them. I am also a moody reader. I can make myself read, but I end up not enjoying the book as much because it just wasn’t the right time. Hope you are able to attend a book event with your daughter. That sounds like a really great bonding experience. Best of luck in 2026!
