Hi dear friends,

This Top 5 Tuesday Shanah @bionicbookworm wanted us to speak about our top couples who did not make it.

BUT

I am a BIG ROMANTIC. I am a romance blogger and I believe in love forever, not in divorce! I had no clue who I would choose among my favorite couples, who would “not make it”.

So instead of torturing my mind I decided to tweak the theme and speak about my unbreakable couples! Mythical One True Pairings. Lovers that could not survive without the other or if widowed would never remarry.

First choice: Poppy and Ren from A Thousand Boy Kisses by Tillie Cole

Spoiler for you but Poppy will not survive and Ren will die young without ever have loved anyone else and happy to join his Poppy in death!

Second choice: Eva and Angelo From Sand and Ash by Amy Harmon

Angelo was torn between his love for Eva and his calling. He was bleeding for her. He felt powerless so many times and yet he would have taken her suffering in a heartbeat. “I would take it away from you if I could. I would take it with me. I would take your pain and bear it for you.” He would happily endure her sorrow if it meant she wouldn’t have to. “I know,” she said again, as if she truly believed him. “I know you would. But sadly, that is not how pain works, is it? We can cause pain, but we can so seldom cure it.”Their love was pure and yes I know it feels sacrilegious as Angelo was a priest but that’s how I experienced it. It shone bright. An evidence.  And yet Angelo had to fight so many temptations…

Angelo chose Eva above God. For a priest if that’s not true love I don’t know what is!

Third choice: Ren and Della from The Ribbon duet by Pepper Winters

Ren sacrificed everything to protect Della, to give her a chance to be better. He’s never stopped to love her and she never stopped to love him. An exceptional all consuming transcendental story of love and life.

“Love’s a disease?” “When I’m with you, I have the cure. I feel stronger, happier, invincible. But when I’m not, I feel as if life itself could delete me, and I wouldn’t care.”

Fourth choice: Dimitri and Rose from Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead

Because even when Dimitri became a strigoï Rose will never abandon him. She’ll move earth and air to bring him back.

Fifth choice: Johnny and Shannon from Binding 13  and Keeping 13 by Chloe Walsh

Rarely have I seen such a young hero so devoted and protective of his girl! He would have sacrificed everything for Shannon. He went through hell to protect and love her.

Sixth choice: Ehd and Beth from Transcendence by Shay Savage

When Ehd finds Beth she becomes his hope and brings him a surge of happiness. He’s found his mate! From that moment on all he really wants is to take care of her, protect his mate and “put a baby in her belly”. Ehd will have to overcome the “non” language barrier and will make mistakes but he is always driven by the need to protect, cherish and help his mate.
Let me say, this “Neanderthal” is much better than many of our contemporary males!
And the end was so tender I had to fight my tears but it was a lost battle(again)!

Sorry Shanah for today’s tweak!

Thanks for reading!

Sophie

  1. Dmitri and Rose! Ah, I loved those two… Ehd and Beth were also awesome.

I’m with you, I want true love! I HATE it when my ships sink! I want the forever love and to believe in the forever, unforgettable, love.

Choosing my top 5 loves that never made it would be impossible with books.
I could do it with TV shows because there has been more of them but they make me ragey, lol.
