Hi friends,
Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
Today’s theme is : my bookish goals for 2023.
Well I already know that I won’t have ten goals! Reading is a hobby and having goals is added pressure, something that I have enough in real life already!
So I am keeping my expectations at a reasonable level, enough for me to feel accomplished by the end of the year LOL
Read 50 books
That’s my Goodreads goal and something that I know I’ll manage easily. See? No pressure.
Listen to 50 audiobooks or more
I participate in the 2023 Audiobook Challenge and I chose marathoner as level. That means listening to 50+ books.
I don’t know if I’ll reach that goal with mammoths books like Ninth House and Hell Bent but I can try!
Reread more
I began rereading again in 2022 and I really enjoyed it so I am determined to keep doing just that!
Tackle my TBR
I want to read more of the books I own and I joined a bookclub on Instagram whose goal is to motivate us to tackle said TBR!
Read more books from my book boxes
I love book boxes and the surprise we get but that also means that not every book will be to my taste nor that I will be motivated to read them.
I noticed that Fairyloot books usually fit my taste and they are my most read books but I’d like to read more of my other boxes.
Read 12 (and more) books from 12 friends
I found this challenge very interesting and thanks to friend’s recommendations, I made my list!

Declutter
I am running out of space and need to sell or give books. I tried selling them on Facebook with limited success but I found a local second hand bookshop interested in my books so yay!
Order less special edition books
I love all the pretty books but it’s not reasonable ordering them if I’ll never read these. So I am determined to order only the special editions from books that I adore or really want to read!
Most importantly… have fun and read/blog at my own pace
As I said, reading as well as blogging is a hobby! These last years I noticed that life and work are taking their toll on me. And I felt bad if I couldn’t reply to comments and blog hop every day.
Now I am wiser and maybe kinder with myself. I do what I can, even if it means catching up on weekend rather than being on top of my game every day.
That’s it! I am surprised that I had so many goals to be honest LOL
Thanks for reading.
Sophie

These all sound like great goals. Good luck with them!
Thank you Suzanne!
I’ve had to take a step back from doing as much blogging and blog-hopping lately too. It just isn’t realistic to do it all, but I want to enjoy what I do! Good luck with your goals!
Thank you and good luck with your book Nicole!
Having fun is the most important one!! And I wish you the best with all your goals!!
Thank you Susy!!
I love that you said read and blog at your own pace. That’s something that I need to do this year as well!
I hope you will succeed Kayla!
These are lovely goals, Sophie! I’d love to reread more myself. There are so many books that requires it!! 😀 Good luck!
Thank you Lashaan!
We need to start reading our book box books together again! We managed for a couple of months didn’t we!!!
Yes Caro! I am in!
I love these goals, very low key and doable. I’m sure you’ll do great!
Thnank you Tammy! 😉
Big yes to blogging at your own pace! I gave up on trying to force myself to blog a certain way, or do a certain number of posts each week, and I’ve never looked back. 🙂 Rereading is definitely something I want to do more of. I truly want to revisit some favorite books.
That’s just bliss rereading Tanya!
Good luck with all your goals. I have been seeing the 12 books challenge everywhere. I have only read two from your list, but they were book excellent.
That gives me hope Sam!
I love this and I want to be kinder to myself on my reader goals this year too. My friend and I noticed we were getting stressed out about not reading “enough” each month, so we were putting off books we really wanted to read in favor of shorter books to meet some arbitrary quota. This year I want to spend more time reading what is calling to me in the moment, and less ARCs too, and not worry so much about total number of books or if I don’t feel like reading at all one day and want to do something different in my limited leisure time. I’m not sure when I turned my favorite hobby into some kind of book report/assignment, but I need to get back to the joy and freedom of it instead! I wish us both luck 🙂
I think it happens slowly because we are blogging and we “have” to perform for the blog!
I’m all for setting reasonable goals with less pressure, Sophie. Good luck!
Thank you Teri!
