I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this captivating family drama set against the backdrop of fame and false accusations.

Twenty years prior, two sisters, Zoe, the beautiful and extroverted one, and Cassie, the incredibly talented but socially anxious prodigy, formed The Griffin Sisters Band. Their one-year stint left an indelible mark on everyone who attended their concert, altering their lives forever. However, a fateful night shattered everything.

Twenty years later, the truth remains elusive. The sisters’ estrangement is a mystery, and Cassie’s whereabouts are unknown. The world is deprived of her extraordinary gift.

Cherry, Zoe’s daughter, is determined to find her aunt. She believes Cassie, unlike her mother Zoe, will support her and help her achieve her dream of singing and stardom.

Cherry embarks on a quest that will take her from her home to a path of forgiveness and reconciliation.

The story unfolds through a dual timeline, spanning the past and present. The past follows the sisters’ journey to stardom, filled with drama and triumphs, while the present centers around Cherry’s search for her aunt.

What truly captivated me were the emotions conveyed in the story—yearning, longing, and hope.

The characters were meticulously crafted, feeling so real with their flaws, insecurities, and ambitions. Cassie, the prodigy with a piano and a voice like an angel, yearned to escape the ridicule she faced due to her physique. Despite her talent, she was paralyzed by the thought of performing on stage.

Zoe, the always protective sister who dreamt of fame despite lacking true talent, used Cassie to achieve her own goals. I despised her selfishness and the consequences it led to, yet I couldn’t help but wonder if she deserved some form of redemption.

Of course, I wanted Cherry to achieve her dream. I wanted her to sing and find Cassie as well.

Throughout the book, I was completely engrossed in the story, captivated by the complexities of these characters’ lives. I was oblivious to the outside world, often on the verge of tears because the mistakes these characters made deeply affected me. And Dakota Fanning’s narration was simply perfect for the story!
