Today is Sunday time to look back in the rearview mirror and talk about my week . I am linking up to the Sunday Post hosted for years by Kimberly@caffeinatedreviewer .

In my private life

Happy Sunday!

This week has been another busy one, with yet another two days at the office hence very early mornings!

We still don’t have news from the cardiologist for Beware of the Husband (since August, it’s a shame!) but he was so fed up (and anxious) that our GP decided to give him beta blockers since Monday.

It’s doing wonders!

And our GP prescribed another exam at the hospital so he’ll have yet another result to wait for by the end of November. Sigh.

Anyway, let’s focus on the beta blockers having him feel way better in the meantime!

Another great news and total surprise for me this week: I have been selected among 1900 other participants to become a partner of Les Editions Bragelonne (Bragelonne Publishing) !!

They are a French publishing house and I’ll work with Le YA Club to read and review YA literature! I had no idea they would choose my blog as so far I have only published in English!

I stumbled upon their site and publishing house when they organised Margaret Rogerson’s tour in France, Belgium and Switzerland some months ago!

They translate all my favorite authors and publish French authors as well. Their editions are just GORGEOUS !

So I guess in 2023, you’ll see French reviews here as well and on Instagram! I’ll make these posts bilingual as they translate many US, UK and AUS authors and you could discover a book originally in English that you might love! Who knows? Some of the names published are CS Pacat, Margaret Rogerson, Brandon Sanderson, Richelle Mead, Jay Kristoff …Or if you are a big booknerd and a book collector like I am, you’ll maybe be tempted to buy a foreign edition just because it’s so pretty! :-)))))

Lats but not least, I am leaving you with a funny reel about me giving an Oscar worthy speech because I felt so accomplished to have read my TBR! Enjoy xx

On the blog this week (click on the graphic to read the post)

I have been busy and published three reviews! All amazing books! The most surprising was probably Yellowface by RF Kuang. There are lots of very interesting and hot topics in that book that will be published in 2023, like cancel culture, plagiarisme etc.

And talking about cancel culture The Orang Outang Librarian wrote a very interesting about it! Read it HERE.

Thanks for reading!

Sophie

  1. Wow, I really hope your hubby doesn’t have to wait much longer for answers. Glad to hear the beta blockers are helping him in the meantime though. Congrats on becoming a partner! That sounds like a very exciting way to start off the new year. 🙂

  2. How frustrating to continue to wait on answers from the specialist. I hope the meds help in the meantime. Congratulations of becoming a publishing partner! That is so exciting!

  3. Happy to hear your husband got on some meds to feel better for now. Hope you get the results soon!

  4. Oh Sophie I really hope those blockers help out your man! Still in my thoughts and prayers. And CONGRATS on partnering with that publishing house, sounds so exciting. I am happy that the Yellowface one was such a win for you. I loved your review for it.

  5. I’m glad the husband is feeling better and I hope they give him better answers soon. Exciting about the french publisher. Do you read Between Dreams and Reality blog? Somehow that was one of the earliest blogs I read, probably because Yummy Men & Kick Ass Chicks which was the first blog is Canadian and Julie also speaks french. I also loved the Naomi Novik trilogy.

  8. Congrats on the deal with the publisher! 😀 And, sorry you still don’t have husband’s results. That is so frustrating! I hope he doesn’t have to wait as long for the new results as he has for these last ones. Thanks for stopping by.

  9. How exciting for you to get to work with the French pub house! That is great! Congrats! And I’m glad to hear the beta blockers are working for your husband. I think international covers are usually prettier than US covers. I’m not sure why that is true, but it is!

  10. I just can’t get over that they are making someone presenting with heart issues wait so long for something. Glad your GP took some steps and that the husband is feeling better. Congratulations on being selected by Bragelonne. Now you can dazzle people with your reviews in two languages
