Hi dear friends,
I am back on track with the “First Impression Friday”.
Joe@Storey of Stories has imagined this meme called “First Impression”.
It’s a meme where you talk about a book that you JUST STARTED! Maybe you’re only two sentences in the book, a chapter or two , maybe a little farther. The goal is to give a few impressions and predict what you’ll think by the end. It will be fun to go back to this post once you’ll have finished the book! Did you think you’d love it and ended up hating it? Or did you think you’d hate it and wound up loving it? Or were you right all along?
But first let me explain why in the coming days and next week I will probably struggle to reply, like and comment on your posts….
Some of you are aware that my dad is suffering from terminal cancer for months now. These last days his condition has really worsened and he has chosen to have euthanasy next Monday. I don’t say it to get some pity because if it IS incredibly sad death also comes with life. He’s had a fulfilling life, had several close calls with death and now his time has come.
Of course I will be there for him and for my mother too. I will try to keep blogging even next week because my way to “cope” when difficult times come is to keep some “bubble” of light amidst the sadness of the days. Blogging is one of these activities that help me to escape and breathe for a little time. But I can’t predict my schedule or anything really. I just hope you’ll be patient with me but I swear I’ll do my best to visit, comment and reply if only to think about something happy.
Now that I’ve explained this let’s get to the heart of this First Impression Friday!
Today is about my most awaited book of 2018 that has arrived this Tuesday in my mailbox!!!! I could not believe Amazon had been so efficient as to deliver the hardcover on my doorstep the day of the release!
I was prepared to wait for weeks before reading Queen of Air and Darkness by Cassandra Clare!
If I am not as far as I’d hoped due to present circumstances I absolutely love it so far!
Cassandra Clare introduces even more mystery *what did Magnus to Julian to change him so much?*.
She has Ty preparing to do something HUGE and forbidden with the help of Kit.
She turned the tables with the election of the new Inquisitor and things look bad, very bad for all who are not shadowhunters.
The Parabatai’s curse seems real! With physical consequences in the flesh!
As you can see I am ready for the worst and the best. One thing is sure: I won’t be bored!
I am predicting 5 stars at least. And …between you and me, she had me waiting so long for this one she’d better deliver! LOL
Now is your turn: what are you reading and how does it look so far?
Thanks for reading!
Sophie, you take all the time you need – we’ll still be here if and when you need us.
Thank you so much Kate!!!
So sorry to hear about your dad 🙁
* hugs *
Thank you so much!!
Sophie, my heart is truly hurting for you. Having lost my own dad this year, I understand (to some degree) what you’re going through. I’m here for you should you need to talk. I wish for comfort for you and your mom and your dad. ♥
Thank you so much Tanya! And yes I do recall it…it is part of life but never easy <3
I am so very sorry about your father. I can only imagine what a tough time this is, I don’t think anyone would blame you if your blogging is a bit off. I know what you mean though, even during tough times, blogging a bit of happiness and distraction. It sounds like you’ve got an exciting book ahead of you too! Sending virtual hugs <3
Thank you so much Kristen! <3 <3 <3
Sophie, my heart’s breaking for you and your family…these words seem so trite but that’s all I have for you, my friend, other than my prayers! You know how to find me so please don’t hesitate to email me…hugs and kisses!
Thank you so much Trisy! And I know…same for you but I hope you got better news this week <3
