Reading habits that changed since I began blogging.

Did your reading habits change too?

Hi friends,

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

Today’s theme is: How My Reading Habits Have Changed Over Time.

As I have been reading since I was a little kid I chose to look back till I began blogging to see how my reading (or book) habits have changed. I don’t know if I will list ten changes but, lets’go!

1)I read different genres.

When I began blogging I read nearly only romance, mainly indie. Now it seems that I burned out or bored out and I scarcely read indie romance. Instead I read YA, mysteries, historical fiction, woman fiction, science fiction etc.

2)I read more slowly

When I began blogging I read 250 books a year. Now I reach less than half that number. That’s also because indie romance are around 250_300 pages while fantasy, science fiction etc are on the bigger side! And I am on social media so that takes time!

3)I DNF books

I used to read books till the end even if I didn’t like them or they were just meh. Now I think life is too short and my free time too precious to lose it on a book that doesn,’t captivate me.

4) I read less ARCs

When I began blogging I requested lots of ARCs. Now I read maybe one ARC per month. I turned into a mood reader.

5)I annotate my favorite books.

Only the ones that captivate me so much that I know I will keep the copies. I make them mine and you can follow my thought process throughout the book.

6)I listen to audiobooks

When I began blogging, I had never listened to any audiobook. Now they are life savers and make chore so much better!

7)I collect special editions

That has more to do with bookstagram than bloggin but FOMO is real and I have seen a huge evolution in the publishing world. They make books prettier!

8)I read a book without reading the synopsis

Pre-blogging I had to at least read the synopsis and some reviews before chosing to read a book. Now it’s more about my friends recommendations that I trust or a cover I love or a favorite author who publishes a new book.

9)I use a reading journal

I only used Goodreads to keep track of my reads since two years ago when I discovered reading journals! Now I find them therapeuthic and better to answer challenges.

That’s it! Nine changes!

Thanks for reading.

Sophie
