Reasons why I am thankful to be a reader.

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

Today’s theme is:  Thanksgiving/Thankful Freebie

I chose to go with why I am thankful to be a reader. What does reading brings me? What does it make of me?

First, reading makes a better human of me.

When you are walking in a character shoes, you empathize with said character!

If that character is transgender, from another religion, an immigrant, with a disability etc, it makes you realize how others struggle sometimes and that you should be kind to them.

Some books that made me empathize:

Reading means that I never get bored either!

Be it waiting for a bus or a train, in a waiting room or any time I always have something to occupy myself with!

Being a reader also means that I live thousand lives! Kind of cool right?

Of course when you read it means that you are more educated. Even if you read “fo fun” like me, just fiction books you always end up learning lots of interesting facts.

Reading also creates bonds! With other readers. Be they family, friends or someone you don’t know but see reading one of your favorite stories on the train or on the bus. You always have something to talk about.

Books also helped me when my life was difficult or the world felt too dark. I seek escape from reality in books and at least it’s cheaper and healthier than drugs!

Last but not least, reading has me feeling so many emotions! Sometimes I cry while reading or listening to a book, sometimes I laugh out loud (and am seen as the crazy lady if that happens in public) other times I swoon and as I read mostly books with HEA, reading gives me hope!

For all these reasons, I am thankful to books and for being a reader.
