Today is Sunday time to look back in the rearview mirror and talk about my week . I am linking up to the Sunday Post hosted for years by Kimberly@caffeinatedreviewer .Â
In my private life
Happy Sunday,
Last week I told you that I had to parent my 85 years old mom and that I hoped she would cooperate well…she didn’t!
It’s been a real battle with her this week with me going crazy because she asked for my help, I did tons of things for her (phone calls, meetings with experts etc) on top of my work and she did the opposite of what I had asked her!
It’s only after I threatened to let her do everything alone that she finally relented, admiting that she was not able to do all these things and that she needed my help.
FINALLY!
Needless to say it’s been a super stressful week and I am headed for months of meetings, coordinating the help she needs, selling the house etc etc.
But at least if I don’t have to fight her anymore that should be easier.
This also means that I had no time to blog hop or comment or…and I am very sorry!
One bright light: we will go choose our puppy next week, even if we won’t be able to bring him/her home before November 22.
As usual, I am leaving you with a reel…about The Louvre robbery!
On the blog last week (click on the graphic to read the post)
I wrote two reviews last week (even amidst the chaos) so yay!
SenLinYu book was DARK!

And a thriller…

Thanks for reading.
Sophie

LOL my mother in law is the same as your mom with not doing anything she’s told even if it’s helpful medical advice. Though I fear if we threatened to let her do it all herself, she might say yes! The problem with her is she thinks we’re all in her business but she is really at the point where it’s unsafe for her to live alone. Anyway! I look forward to the puppy pics, how exciting!
The puppy pics are up Mogsy!
I’m sorry about the situation with your mom, I hope the coming months will go more smoothly. Yay for the puppy though, that’s always a bright spot!
A very bright spot Lindsey!
Good luck with your Mom. I am glad she is finally relenting and listening to you.
I know it isn’t easy with your mom, Sophie, but I’m glad she’s now cooperating. And yay for a new puppy!
This is all very hard, I am sorry you’re going through it. Sending love (and patience!!).
But a new puppy?? Awwwwww!!
Yes a new puppy!
I’m glad you and your mother have reached an understanding and I hope the process gets easier for you both.
I’m interested in Alchemised but worried it will be too dark for me.
Wishing you a happy reading week
Thank you Shellyrae
I can understand how hard it must be. While my mom is still not at that point, there are some things she is having trouble facing that need to change. So it is hard. I’m glad that hopefully she is going to work with you now so that things can hopefully be smoother. Can’t wait to see pictures of the puppy! Hope this is a smoother week for you.

The picture of the puppy is up on today’s post!
What a heartbreaking situation – you are at your wit’s end trying to do what is the best for your poor mother. And she is trying to come to terms with the fact that she can no longer live her life the way she wants to… I hope the coming weeks are less gruelling, Sophie.
Thank you Sarah!
That’s a lot to handle and it’s hard emotionally too. ((HUGS))
Thank you Sam!
It’s probably very hard for her and scary to realize she can’t do it all anymore. I don’t think she is fighting you; she is fighting a change in life circumstances. How exciting to see the new puppy. We rescue older dogs because we have no patience for potty training.
Anne – Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
You are right about her being scared Anne.
I am dreading doing all that stuff with my parents, but it’s coming… A new puppy??? I can’t wait to see photos!!
Oooh you will get tons of pictures Tammy!
I feel your parent pain Sophie!
I know Caro! You also have your plate full!
I hope your mom continues to work with you as you try to support her. People in their 80s are very stubborn–in my experience!
Ha! You could say that! Maybe we ‘ll be the same at their age or is it a generation Boomer thing?
