Today is Sunday time to look back in the rearview mirror and talk about my week . I am linking up to the Sunday Post hosted for years by Kimberly@caffeinatedreviewer .Â
In my private life
Happy Sunday!
This week has been intense yet productive and the best part was teaching my second art class!
As a reminder, I have been asked to teach how to paint book edges by a local second hand bookstore. I am no teacher, have no art certificate but I love sharing my experience and talk about art!
This Saturday was my second time teaching.
Contrary to last Saturday where I had an art teacher and several graphic designers as students, this time none had any art background!
We went from “all” to “nothing” and that was still fabulous!
The main difference was that I had to teach non-stop, explain techniques and correct mistakes while the week before, after explaining the basics the students needed little help.
I felt like a “real” art teacher, like my mom in fact! LOL
That also made me realize that I have learned tons of techniques that I wasn’t aware of!
Everyone had a great time, me included, as all participants were very enthusiastic and kind. To the point that when I announced that we’d be adding one more date in September (that wasn’t initially planned), they all urged me to “Do it sooner! Maybe in August?”
And cherry on top, the people at the bookstore made me a very touching gift with a basket of local gourmet food and drink! I didn’t expected that and was deeply touched!
Here is a first reel of their creation (I’ll make a longer one next week).
And this is another reel about me wondering what happened to Nora Sakavic! Do you also have authors who simply…vanished?
On the blog last week (click on the graphic to read the post)
Last week I published only two reviews, even if I have read more books…
Thanks for reading!
Sophie

Congrats on your second class, I’m glad they seem to be taking off!
I am glad too!
Yay! I’m glad your art classes have been successful. I love the painted edges. 🙂
Thank you AJ! <3
I’m glad to hear your second class went great as well, even if the audience was very different 🙂 And fun that everyone’s so excited about more classes!
Yes that means it’s a success!
Sounds like your class was very different from the first one… but every bit as rewarding! I’d say you are a hit! 🙂
Thank you Tanya!
That’s so exciting that your second class was a completely different skill level of painters. I would LOVE to join a class if I lived there!
And I would love to have you Tammy!
I love your painted edges, Sophie. I’d probably be the student who flunks out – I have no artistic talent at all, lol.
You’d be surprised Teri! LOL
I am always so impressed when I see books with painted edges. I am so glad that your second class went well. Have a great week!
Thank you Carole!
Of course your class went well. You are SO talented. I’m glad you had fun with it.
Anne – Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
Thank you for the praise Anne!
That’s so awesome about your class! And yes- where do some authors go???
Right???
That’s wonderful.. congratulations on completing year two!!
Thank you!
So glad this week went well Sophie!
Me too Caro!
I’m so glad the session went well! That is awesome!
Thank you Samantha!
Those books in the reel are your “novice” artists? They came out great. I can feel how much you enjoyed teaching this classes.
Yes they are from my novice artists 😉 and yes I did enjoy teaching these classes! My mom was an art teacher and I had that weird feeling that I was impersonating her LOL
That’s neat! Second generation. No wonder you are so artistic
Yes second generation LOL
Look at you being all official as a teacher. haha Glad you are having fun with it though! I think thats so great. And its so sad when authors disappear and you have no clue where they went. Maya Banks and Katy Evans are the big authors for me on that.
Katy Evans disappeared? Oh my!
