Ten (or more) reads to entertain you this summer!

A list of thrillers, romances and contemporary reads specially curated for summer days!

Hi friends,

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

Today’s theme is a summer freebie and I curated a list of books that I think are perfect for the summer. My “beach reads” tend to be either thrillers, romcoms, sweet romances or brilliant contemporary reads so, that’s what I will give you today!

Thrillers/mysteries

Famous Last Words by Gillian McAllister, Listen for the Lie by Amy Tintera, None of This is True by Lisa Jewell are excellent thrillers.

“Light” romances (light versus dark)

The Seven Year Slip by Ashley Poston (I listened to that one on vacation!), Ready of Not by Cara Bastone (adorable and deep), Thank you for Listening by Julia Whelan, Story of my Life by Lucy Score, Every Summer After by Carley Fortune.

Contemporary (it’s a mixed bag of family saga, healing/growing stories, LGBTQ etc.)

Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid, These Summer Storms by Sarah Maclean, My Friends by Fredrik Backman, Shopgirls and Mary-Jane by Jessica Anya Blau, Top Lake by Ann Patchett, Hello Stranger by Katherine Center, Book Lovers by Emily Henry and The Guncle by Steven Rowley.

Have you read any of these?

Thanks for reading.

  1. These covers are giving me summer vibes! Malibu Rising and Book Lovers are two that I enjoyed, and the cover of Malibu Rising makes me want to head to the beach ASAP. I had to add None of This is True to my TBR, I have no idea how it wasn’t already on there.

  2. I love how you split your list into different genres. I loved the Seven Year Slip and I hope to read Book Lovers soon :)
