Hi friends,

Friday Face-Off is a weekly meme created by Books by Proxy! This is a great opportunity to feature some of your favourite book covers.   Each Friday, we will pit cover against cover and choose our favorite. If you want to join the fun, choose a book each Friday that fits that week’s predetermined theme. Compare two or more different covers available for that book, and pick your favorite. A list of future weeks’ themes are available at Lynn’s Book Blog. Easy right?

This week’s theme: Tentacles : The sea brought you.  The sea shall have you back

Well let me tell you that today’s topic was HARD!

Because I didn’t want to go for some horror book featuring sea monster and translated in many languages but rather find a YA book with a lovely cover.

If these do exist like Sea Witch by  Sarah Henning   or Starfish by Akemi Dawn Bowman (what? A jellyfish does not have tentacles?) you don’t have that many different editions it seems.

And as Deeplight by Frances Harding was already taken by some of you, I had to look further.

So my choice today is …..All the Stars and Teeth by Adalyn Grace

Fierce and unrelentingDo yourself a favor and get lost in this beautiful book!” –Tomi Adeyemi, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Children of Blood and Bone

Set in a kingdom where danger lurks beneath the sea, mermaids seek vengeance with song, and magic is a choice, Adalyn Grace’s All the Stars and Teeth is a thrilling fantasy for fans of Stephanie Garber’s Caraval and Sarah J. Maas’s Throne of Glass series.

She will reign.

As princess of the island kingdom Visidia, Amora Montara has spent her entire life training to be High Animancer–the master of souls. The rest of the realm can choose their magic, but for Amora, it’s never been a choice. To secure her place as heir to the throne, she must prove her mastery of the monarchy’s dangerous soul magic.

When her demonstration goes awry, Amora is forced to flee. She strikes a deal with Bastian, a mysterious pirate: he’ll help her prove she’s fit to rule, if she’ll help him reclaim his stolen magic.

But sailing the kingdom holds more wonder–and more peril–than Amora anticipated. A destructive new magic is on the rise, and if Amora is to conquer it, she’ll need to face legendary monsters, cross paths with vengeful mermaids, and deal with a stowaway she never expected… or risk the fate of Visidia and lose the crown forever.

I am the right choice. The only choice. And I will protect my kingdom.

  1. This is a super pretty book! didn’t even realize there were tentacles on the US cover, and I’ve looked at that cover so many times, lol. Even though this was a tougher theme I think you did great. I can’t choose my favorite, I think all the covers are beautiful.

    1. I was opting for the same one as I was scrolling.. but bam, the owlcrate one happened! It looks just so much better to me with different tones and colors; it’s just way too over-saturated and too much of one color for me otherwise..
