Today is Sunday time to look back in the rearview mirror and talk about my week . I am linking up to the Sunday Post hosted for years by Kimberly@caffeinatedreviewer .

In my private life

Happy Sunday!

No Sunday post last week and no post this week as I took an unexpected week off the blog.

But I just wanted to BE instead of DO.

What does it mean?

I just felt like reading and watching TV (more about that below) instead of writing reviews and posting and commenting.

And I enjoyed it a lot!

Feedback for The Devil Wears Prada II that I told I would watch in my last Sunday Post: it was a littel bit disappointing. Less edge and more humor. That’s not a bad thing per se and to be expected probably as we didn’t have the “surprise effect” anymore!

But it was fun to see Miranda biting her tongue every time she wanted to do a tongue lashing as she had obviously been chastised by HR and her boss for bullying.

Also the gowns were incredible!

About my female puppy who I said would be neutered, also in my last Sunday post. Everything went well. She is now very much wanting petting and being close to me all the time.

Now about today’s title…

My husband was away on a bike trip with my son for six days. I had the house alone and the TV! I rarely watch TV except to watch Bridgerton (that I love) and try Heated Rivalry (that I didn’t like but love the actors). I stopped watching after two episodes of Heated Rivalry as there was too much sex (I appreciated the eye candy) and not enough plot or feelings for me.

So I decided on a whim to watch a Cdrama (Chinese drama) that had been recommended by a fellow bookstagrammer: The Pursuit of Jade.

I had NEVER watched K drama and even less Cdrama.

All is in Chinese (Mandarin I think) with English subtitles.

At first I was surprised as it was a mix of naivety on the heroine’s part, some “fart” moments too BUT there is SO MUCH YEARNING!!!!! It’s like a slow burn in Victorian era . But that acting all in subtelty and totally opposite to more extravert European love stories really enthralled me!

It’s a 40 episodes series (something I hadn’t realized right away) and I am binge watching it! Me!

So if you have Netflix and are curious and love romance with all the feels, please do me a favor and watch it!

Here is one trailer with English subtitles.

Now as usual, I am leaving you with a reel where I got creative to unbox my editions of Illuminae , Owlcrate edition.

On the blog since last Sunday (click on the graphic to read the post)

Since I didn’t post anything last week, I will post my last two reviews.

One for an ARC of a dark academia romance that I enjoyed immensely (it’s the sequel of Nightshade) and the second for the latest Sally Hepworth novel that surprised me in a very good way and that feature an older protagonist.

Thanks for reading!

  1. Sometimes we all need those breaks, Sophie, and having the house to yourself was the perfect time. I don’t think they’re for me, but a friend has become a big fan of the Kdramas.

  2. I actually didn’t watch The Devil Wears Prada because I couldn’t make it out with a friend. But, hearing the reviews, I’m not sure if I would have enjoyed it to be honest. Also, I haven’t watched Heated Rivalry because I don’t like a lot of spice – I think I would have had the same opinion.

Awesome you got some great reads in!

Happy your pup is doing well!

  3. So I’ve not watched K-Dramas exactly, but had watched some Korean shows that were more horror/zombie tv series with teens? Can’t remember the name, but enjoyed them. I want to watch Heated Rivalry but don’t have the streaming service it is on right now I don’t think. I do see that Amazon Prime is going to have some shows I need to watch though. One by an author I forgot to write down so I could remember though since I hadn’t read that book. And now I can’t even remember the author, maybe Tijan? It is nice to have a week like that, glad you enjoyed. Also glad the puppy is doing well! Have another great week!

  4. I’m glad you had a nice week off! I’m alone for two weeks right now and it’s wonderful, lol. Although my kids are coming to visit next weekend. I want to watch The Devil Wears Prada 2 but I have seen mostly “meh” reviews. Maybe when it starts streaming. Cdrama looks interesting, I might try it
