Hi dear friends,
The Sunday post is a weekly meme hosted @ Caffeinated Reviewer. Time to look back on my week and talk about life events and blog related news.
Private life first
It’s Sunday already! A sunny Sunday here with a gentle breeze and the garden in full bloom. Bees are buzzing, butterflies wandering from flower to flower and the birds are all determined to wake us at ungodly hours!
Yet here I am catching up on all things blog related as I have a very busy May ahead, on the blog and on the Facebook group (several takeover planned with prizes there!).
It’s also the beginning of “end of the school year” madness here.
My son will go every weekend from 9 AM till 3:30 PM to his coach to study under supervision. From Saturday morning to Sunday afternoon for seven weeks! Tough study time for him and taxi driving parents here.
My daughter will juggle between her waitress student job on Saturday, the rehearsals for her theater play due next week and private courses in mathematics (her weak spot). Add to it long study hours to prepare the end of the year and all parents will tell you that our house is like a broiling cauldron.
Angst and fears are simmering below the surface waiting for the slightes trigger to erupt in a volcano of fury and biting words!
No one under the roof will be spared.
It began this morning and I am seriously considering ordering a T-Shirt saying “Punching Bag” online.
Because that’s what I’ll probably reduced to for the coming weeks: a metaphorical punching bag. The receptacle of the kids stress and fears of failing. “They are under stress, they don’t mean it and no you can’t hit them” will be my next mantra.
Who said raising kids was easy?
Yeah…who am I kidding? πΒ
If one of you ever wrote a “101 handguide to raise hormonal teenagers under a lot of stress” please feel free to reach for me!
Now if these weeks won’t be a stroll in the park I am counting my blessings because really I am healthy, I have an interesting if tiring job, a beautiful family (even if I want to throw the kids through the window several times a week), a supportive husband and a cute ball of fur. So yes I’m ranting but it’s rather to let some steam lose than because I have a bad life because that’s so far from the truth!
On the blog
Books I’ve read and reviewed this week (click on the graphic to read the review)
4 stars for Song of Blood and Stone by L Penelope
4,5 stars for Bad Boy Brody by Tijan
And my favorite 5 stars for the brilliant and scheming Father Figure by James Cudney (alias jay)
I participated in several meme aside the WWW Wednesday and the Top 5 Tuesday (that I had to tweak once again). I participated in the I Heart Characters (Fae Love Interest this week) hosted by Dani @perspective of a writer and First Impression hosted by Joe @storeyofstories.
I even wrote my April Wrap-Up and my May TBR!!! A great blogging week.
Just huge weak spot: for two days I’ve been unable to like, reply and comment! I will be back on track later today promise!
On the blogosphere:
Evelina wrote an interesting post about organizing your TBR with spreadsheets http://avalinahsbooks.space/tbr-spreadsheet-template/
And Shruti discussed YA books topic. Do they bring you more followers on the blog? https://thisislitblog.com/2018/05/01/chai-break-will-reading-ya-books-get-you-more-followers/
Now do tell me: how was your week?
Thanks for reading!
The birds here start chirping around 4am. Every summer Iβm reminded of how annoying that is. I hope the teenagers arenβt too hormonal. Have a great week!
Thanks Aj ;-))))
I remember end of school year drama and I feel for you. My son said I was Momzilla during that time. Which would make him…..Frankenson. LOL I hope you can find time to escape in a good book for a bit.
My Sunday Post
That’s my plan Laura! Lots and lots of books to escape LOL
I think the birds where I live are confused. I heard them singing at like 3 in the morning half the time, but not during the day lol. And this morning there was a symphony of frogs or something at like 5 in the morning -_-
Yikes, the end-of-the-school-year madness does sound stressful! Hopefully it won’t be too bad! Have a great week π
Hihihi birds can get confused indeed Kristen π
It’s finally looking like spring around here too- we’ve got big fat bumblebees buzzing around. And it is a crazy time with school almost out. I hear ya! Love that GIF by the way- having just watched Mean Girls for the first time recently, I actually get it. π
I Heart Characters is an awesome new meme, I’m glad people are participating in it, the topics are fun!
Thank you so much Greg!!!
Oh noo.. we get this too; although itβs from my dad heβs under pressure and the persons he manage dont listen to him, etc. So if we say anything in a bad timing we will probably get it
Unfortunately for mom, I inherit that from him *aherm*. As you know i was stressing over my privacy policy, struggling and having an anxiety attack while she was blabbing unnecessary things .. so eh, I may have snapped a few times ..
Hahaha Kristina yes! Now I’ve learned that GDPR applies to “firms” and we are not firms so we should be in the clear π
Wow, wouldn’t want to be in your house π but you can’t say they won’t be prepared for the exams. It’s a mother’s job I guess, providing food and letting them whine about what they’re going through. They’ll appreciate it in the end, I’m sure!!
Fingers crossed Inge!!!
Ugh, not great … I remember when i was a teen and super dramatic i always just wanted to be left alone. Wonder if my mum felt like you do now….
I’m no mum, so can’t really offer any insight…
Good luck!
Hahaha thank you Norrie π
The end of the school year is always tough, no matter how you’re experiencing it! Best of luck with the next few weeks, Sophie! β₯
Thank you JJ!!!
I am the punching bag for all in my house too. You are right, us moms get it and really it isn’t their fault they are under a lot of stress. We have just about a month before the SAT’s for my daughter so that causing a lot of pressure here to. Than with my sisters passing the stress from that. I am back in school and there is more stress. We are just a big ball of stress ready to explode at any moment. But, we make it through.
Hope this week is a better for you all.
Mary my #Sunday Roundup #17!
Thank you Mary! Thinking of you too <3
I always feel like no matter how old they get it will always be compete madness. π
Hang in there! Hope this week is awesome for you!
Oh, I remember the end of school year madness. Hang in there Mom!
I feel ya Soph! Being a parent is the hardest job in the world and some days no matter what you do, it’s never good enough to them! It is exactly why I hide in my books when they are being jerks! Hang in there!
