Hi friends,
Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
Today’s theme is : favourite words
Well I chose to feature words that are my weakness when it comes to buying books! If I see these words in a blurb or review, chances are high that I will one click and fast! And you’ll get more than ten…maybe!
And I’ll try to illustrate with corresponding books.
First come WHIMSICAL and HEARTFELT
And the best book to illustrate these is The House in the Cerulean Sea

WITTY is also a favorite suggesting banter and maybe sarcasm (my favorite brand of humor). Just like Sorcery of Thorns

Then I like books with wonder, ENCHANTING and DELICIOUS books with a creative universe, sexy heroes or villains and usually full of magic like Once Upon a Broken Heart.

I also love seating at the edge of my seat, adrenaline spiking, riveted to a story full of twists and turns. Something HEARTPOUNDING and SURPRISING, RIVETING. Just like Red Rising series.

Some authors also do have an EXQUISITE writing, just like Tiffany Reisz. That will make reading smut feeling like a transcendental experience.

You also have these stories that are just REFRESHING and SMART. With either a plot or a tone unlike anything else. Just like Lessons in Chemistry.

I also will buy any book presented as SOULFUL, HOPEFUL and even better if it has QUIRKY characters! Just like The Maid!

And then, when I want to really feel everything, to have my soul ripped, I’ll go for a HEARTBREAKING story. Even better if it’s filled with love and beauty like Wolfsong.

Oh, I nearly forgot, this one is for my friend Caro @cjrthebrit : I love UNHINGED characters like Andrew Miniard in The Foxhole Court 🙂

Thanks for reading!
Sophie

I like your twist on this week’s topic. I wasn’t a big fan of the topic and was too tired to think of a good way to twist it, haha.
;-))))))
Love this list that you have shared here! Such a great theme. I do love the words Witty and refreshing. .
They give me energy and smile Renee 😉
I love your twist on the topic, and I totally agree with HERATBREAKING and UNHINGED! I would personally add any story blurb that uses the word TWIST
Twists are usually what keeps us reading and put wonder in our eyes Tammy!
I keep saying I will read a TJ Klune book and yet I still haven’t. One of these days I MUST read one!
Not yet Stephanie?????
Heartfelt and hopeful are two that would make me want to read a book. Fun is important to me too
Lots and lots of emotions and fun Sam!
I always find it interesting to see what keywords and phrases attract other readers. I definitely have some that interest catch my interest (and, conversely, others that steer me away). The one we seem to share is heartbreaking. That one will get me every time. 🙂
I know you love your heart to be broken…with books Tanya 😉
