Hi dear friends,

Today is Sunday time to tell you all about what happened this week in my life and on the blog! Linking up to the usual suspect Kimberly @caffeinatedreviewer

In my private life first

Today is the day I drove my youngest one to her university dorm! She will go “on an adventure” navigating between school papers, roommates, beer parties, grocery shopping ….all the while hoping to become a vet one day!

And of course once I was driving back from her dorm she phoned me that she forgot her smartphone home and could I please drive back with it today? That’s my daughter: always losing or forgetting something!

We are lucky that our country is a small one, not like the States when one kid goes to study in NY while his parents live in San Diego!

She had a last “golden week of summer” as our town is celebrating for days and she had friends sleeping (and eating lots of food) every night with us! Our house is stratgically situated for enjoying all the concerts, events, parties hosted this week and they set camp with us 😀

I had three to five daughters instead of one!  But as they are all going to study and work a lot this year I guess it was a last gift I could offer them. I just had to buy lots of cereals, pasta, milk… Now my cupboards are empty and it’s time for a visit to the supermarket!

When I was not taking care of eigtheen year old girls I was pulling my dog to the vet as she was sick and woke me up four times a night! Nothing serious but I had to give her twice a day a nasty black paste all while being judged by her reproachful eyes! “Why do you do this to me mom”? You think when your kids leave the nest that you’ll only have to care for yourself but no!

Last thrilling news: I have been chosen as influencer for Sarah @dazzlingtragedy ‘s custom made funko pop!!!

I had been offered to be an influencer several times these last months thanks to my IG account but had no interest as it was about watches, jewels etc. My focus is on book and bookish merch! As I’ve tried many times to get book themed funko but seem to always be too late to get one, I entered Sarah’s search for rep and influencers. Yesterday I just learnt that I had been chosen!!!! I just burst into my hubs office screaming that “I have been chosen”! He replied: “But …these are dolls! How old are you, remind me please?” Such party pooper!

I am so happy because her funkos are just so cute! Look below where you can spot Claire from Outlanders, Audrey Rose from Stalking Jack the Ripper, Rhysand and Feyre as well as Jude Duarte from The Cruel Prince.

The only down is that I won’t be able to order Jude’s funko as Holly Black sold the license to merchandise inspired by her books to a small company and asked all shops to stop selling unofficial merchandise. If you are interested in this story and want to know more about merchandising and author’s rights in general, just read this very interesting article by Katie @herpaperworld.

Still I will have the opportunity to order a discounted funko and will be able to offer anyone a 10% discount in her shop!!!!

Oh one last thing ...I also had the opportunity to order the Owlcrate special edition of “Call Dawn the Hawk” by Maggie Stiefvater!!!

Just a busy week as you can see 😀

On the blog (click on the graphic to read the post)

I have reviewed three books and have finished two more books (review coming next week!).

One good and two great ones!

Fighting Absolution by Kate McCarthy was a moving childhood sweethearts military romance!

The Beautiful by Renée Ahdieh was just … dazzling! It inspired me so much that an IG friend had me chatting with her with such enthusiasm that we decided to create a kind of fanfic/sequel which will be very spoilerish for those who have not read book one yet but so much fun! Expect the post to get published two weeks after the release 😀

The Fountains of Silence by Ruta Sepetys was just …incredible! And beautiful. And enlightening. And….one of my bests of 2019.

As I am finding my new normal on the blog and a balance between posting and enjoying less pressure, I had two more posts this week:

The Top Covers for 2019 in our Top 5 Tuesday

The Thursday’s discussion about spoilers! Are they always bad? What do you consider as spoiler?

In the blogosphere and literary world

I so love that quizz! Epic Reads asks us if we are the hero or the villain of a fairy tale!

I got : “You’d be the hero. There you go, swooping in to save the day. If you lived in a fairytale, everyone would chant your name. We can almost hear it now…”

And this week’s post comes from Dani as she debates about what makes us choose a book!

https://perspectiveofawriter.com/2019/09/14/1-priority-when-choosing-a-book-to-read-discussion/

That’s it! Now do tell me how was your week!

Thanks for reading.

Sophie

  1. First, congrats on the influencer thing!! Those funkos are so cute! I’ll have to purchase some! And where are you from?? Because I say the exact same thing about Puerto Rico, in terms of distances. This island is only 100×35.
Good luck to your daughter! I hope she enjoys college!

    1. No no just 30 minutes well 1 hour to come back too! A drop in the ocean compared to your huge distances in the US!

  2. Congrats on becoming a Funko influencer! That’s so cool and the Funko dolls look amazing. Sounds like you gave your daughter and her friends a fun send off before school. I hope they all enjoyed it and I also hope that your pup is feeling better.

  3. My daughter used to forget everything at that age, too! I bet you’ll miss her. Oh, those sad eyes! When we have to give our cat pills he gives me that same look. Like, how could you? It’s hard when you can’t tell them it’s for their own good. Happy reading, Sophie! 🙂

  4. What a week you had! Hope your daughter gets settled in quickly and does well. And nice that she is not too far from home just yet. Congrats on being chosen as an influencer!!! (Still laughing at your husband’s response, though. LOL) And nice to know that you are a hero and not a villain. 🙂

  5. *jumping up and down* CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I am so happy for you, and those Funkos are very cool. It’s not like your kids HAVE to go out of state to school (like mine did, twice). My state’s flagship university (which is ranked internationally) is 20 minutes from my home. I went there, my sister went there, my kid, did not want to go there. You are lucky to have your daughter nearby. It’s the best of both worlds if you ask me. OMG! You’re dog is too cute, and I hope the pup is feeling better.

  6. Er, I meant Funko Influencer. Not Funk. Just goes to show- proofread before hitting “post” Mr. Greg lol! Anyway congrats on that too! Sounds fun. 🙂

  7. Is Funk Influencer a thing? I wanna be one!! Seriously though, glad you had a nice week with the kids. Such an age of transitions… good luck to your daughter at school!

    Oh and I’m a villain apparently. 🙂

  8. It sounds like a great week. I love to have my daughter’s friends because it is easier for her and I love to cook. I feel a bit like I know what is happening too. Aw your poor doggie, I hope she’s better.

Well I wish you a wonderful week with your books!
