Top 5 Tuesday is back! Long hosted by Shanah @bionicbookworm (she was the creator), she has now new challenges awaiting her and Meeghan from @meeghanreads has become our new mastermind!!!

This week’s topic is : top 5 recommendations by friends

I have tons of books that have been recommended by friends but I chose to limit my choices to books read this year. Some of these were not only recommended by friends but also bookclub reads (that’s also a recommendation right?)

And as today’s topic for Top 10 Tuesday is a freebie, I decided to extend my choice of books to ten.

So you get a mash up of Top 5 and Top 10 today!

First, I HAD to begin this list with one of the most formidable books I have read this year and that I didn’t want to read. At all. BUT I made a deal with Daisy @thedgbookblog and I would read it if she would read Six of Crows.

It turned out that we both adored our respective reads.

That read is …Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid

The Diviners by Libba Bray was in fact the product of Chelsea @starcrossedbookblog always gushing about that book!

Chase the Dark and then soon the whole Steel & Stone series by Annette Marie was part of a buddy read with Jen @starcrossedbookblog and Raven @dreamyaddiction . That series was so addictive that we read it all!

Halfway to the Grave by Jeaniene Frost is “just” the best book of Talia @redhotink and she gushed about it so hard for so long that I just caved and loved it 😀

The Foxhole Court series that ended up being one of the best series I have read was because of Corina @thebrowneyebookworm and another bookstagrammer. They were so adamant about this one that I succumbed to curiosity!

What I Carry by Jennifer Longo is solely to blame on Sam @wlabb . This was just one of these fresh and moving reads.

The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune was always hyped on Instagram but Lindsey @thepagemistress convinced me to read what’s been my best book of the year!

The All Sould Trilogy by Deborah Harkness was “pushed on me” by Bex @mummyisreading . The woman would not stop raving about that book so of course I had to try it! And it’s been amazing!

His and Hers by Alice Feeney was part of a book club read on Instagram. I was intrigued and wanted to try a crime/mystery, a genre I didn’t read much anymore. That book had twists with twists! Talk about mindblow!

Red, White and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston was on my radar for some time but the proverbial last straw was Jay , James Cudney IV, ‘s review!

OK these are my books. What are the best friend recommendations for you?

Thanks for reading!

Sophie

  1. Gotta love when you find amazing books thanks to friends’ recommendations 🙂 I ADORE Annette Marie’s books, as well as Red White and Royal Blue and of course The House in the Cerulean Sea (which I also picked up because of a bookstagrammer). And of course, I picked up Halfway to the Grave because of your recommendation, so the recommendations continue!

  2. Great list! So many good books on here, I really want to read The House in the Cerulean Sea and A Discovery of Witches!
