Top 5 Tuesday is back! Long hosted by Shanah @bionicbookworm (she was the creator), she has now new challenges awaiting her and Meeghan from@meeghanreads has become our new mastermind!!!
This week’s topic is : top 5 books I haven’t read yet
OK it will be no surprise if I say that my TBR is a mile long, at least. I have way more than five books not read yet but tried to show a modicum of restraint today and stick to the rules of five books!
I decided to go with books that I already own but haven’t read for one or another reason, mostly it’s me being in the mood for it or having the time!
The Bronze Horseman by Paullina Simons
The golden skies, the translucent twilight, the white nights, all hold the promise of youth, of love, of eternal renewal. The war has not yet touched this city of fallen grandeur, or the lives of two sisters, Tatiana and Dasha Metanova, who share a single room in a cramped apartment with their brother and parents. Their world is turned upside down when Hitler’s armies attack Russia and begin their unstoppable blitz to Leningrad.
Yet there is light in the darkness. Tatiana meets Alexander, a brave young officer in the Red Army. Strong and self-confident, yet guarding a mysterious and troubled past, he is drawn to Tatiana—and she to him. Starvation, desperation, and fear soon grip their city during the terrible winter of the merciless German siege. Tatiana and Alexander’s impossible love threatens to tear the Metanova family apart and expose the dangerous secret Alexander so carefully protects—a secret as devastating as the war itself—as the lovers are swept up in the brutal tides that will change the world and their lives forever.
I haven’t read it yet because I am intimidated right? It’s a bog book and very hyped so I am afraid!
The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah
FRANCE, 1939
In the quiet village of Carriveau, Vianne Mauriac says good-bye to her husband, Antoine, as he heads for the Front. She doesn’t believe that the Nazis will invade France…but invade they do, in droves of marching soldiers, in caravans of trucks and tanks, in planes that fill the skies and drop bombs upon the innocent. When a German captain requisitions Vianne’s home, she and her daughter must live with the enemy or lose everything. Without food or money or hope, as danger escalates all around them, she is forced to make one impossible choice after another to keep her family alive.
Vianne’s sister, Isabelle, is a rebellious eighteen-year-old, searching for purpose with all the reckless passion of youth. While thousands of Parisians march into the unknown terrors of war, she meets Gaëtan, a partisan who believes the French can fight the Nazis from within France, and she falls in love as only the young can…completely. But when he betrays her, Isabelle joins the Resistance and never looks back, risking her life time and again to save others.
With courage, grace and powerful insight, bestselling author Kristin Hannah captures the epic panorama of World War II and illuminates an intimate part of history seldom seen: the women’s war. The Nightingale tells the stories of two sisters, separated by years and experience, by ideals, passion and circumstance, each embarking on her own dangerous path toward survival, love, and freedom in German-occupied, war-torn France—a heartbreakingly beautiful novel that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the durability of women. It is a novel for everyone, a novel for a lifetime.
This is again a book that intimidates me as it’s got so many amazing reviews!
Sea of Ruin by Pam Godwin
Bennett Sharp is on the run.
Wanted for piracy, she fears neither God nor death nor man.
Except Priest Farrell.
The unfaithful, stormy-eyed libertine hunts her with terrifying possessiveness. Nothing will stop him from coming for her. Not his unforgivable betrayal. Not when she’s captured by the ice-cold pirate hunter, Lord Ashley Cutler.
She must escape Ashley’s prison and Priest’s deceit. But can she walk away from their twisted desires?
Two gorgeous captains stand on opposite sides of the law. When they collide in a battle to protect her, the lines blur between enemies and lovers.
Passion heats, secrets unravel, and hearts entangle until they break.
Can love prevail in the sea of ruin?
I know that this book is fabulous and that my friend Tracey recommended that one to me but …I just can’t seem to be in the mood to read it right know and no, I don’t know why!
The Red Scrolls of Magic by Cassandra Clare and Wesley Chu
From #1 New York Times bestseller Cassandra Clare and award-winner Wesley Chu comes the first book in a new series that follows High Warlock Magnus Bane and Alec Lightwood as they tour the world after the Mortal War. The Red Scrolls of Magic is a Shadowhunters novel.
All Magnus Bane wanted was a vacation—a lavish trip across Europe with Alec Lightwood, the Shadowhunter who against all odds is finally his boyfriend. But as soon as the pair settles in Paris, an old friend arrives with news about a demon-worshipping cult called the Crimson Hand that is bent on causing chaos around the world. A cult that was apparently founded by Magnus himself. Years ago. As a joke.
Now Magnus and Alec must race across Europe to track down the Crimson Hand and its elusive new leader before the cult can cause any more damage. As if it wasn’t bad enough that their romantic getaway has been sidetracked, demons are now dogging their every step, and it is becoming harder to tell friend from foe. As their quest for answers becomes increasingly dire, Magnus and Alec will have to trust each other more than ever—even if it means revealing the secrets they’ve both been keeping.
I got a special edition from Illumicrate and I paln on reading it either this month or the next. So that’s a good news right?
Red, White and Royal Blue by Casey McQinston
First Son Alex Claremont-Diaz is the closest thing to a prince this side of the Atlantic. With his intrepid sister and the Veep’s genius granddaughter, they’re the White House Trio, a beautiful millennial marketing strategy for his mother, President Ellen Claremont. International socialite duties do have downsides—namely, when photos of a confrontation with his longtime nemesis Prince Henry at a royal wedding leak to the tabloids and threaten American/British relations.
The plan for damage control: staging a fake friendship between the First Son and the Prince. Alex is busy enough handling his mother’s bloodthirsty opponents and his own political ambitions without an uptight royal slowing him down. But beneath Henry’s Prince Charming veneer, there’s a soft-hearted eccentric with a dry sense of humor and more than one ghost haunting him.
As President Claremont kicks off her reelection bid, Alex finds himself hurtling into a secret relationship with Henry that could derail the campaign and upend two nations. And Henry throws everything into question for Alex, an impulsive, charming guy who thought he knew everything: What is worth the sacrifice? How do you do all the good you can do? And, most importantly, how will history remember you?
The good news is that after more than one year sitting on my shelf I began that one today! So there is hope friends!
Have you read any of these? Care to give me the push that I need to read one of them this month?
Thanks for reading!
I hope you have fun with RW&RB! It’s a fun romp, and a nice break from stressful things!
The Nightingale is one I need to pick up too!
I hope you enjoy Sea Of Ruin when you finally get around to it!
Sea of Ruin looks really good! Red, White & Royal Blue is so good! You have to read it
SOPHIE!! Read the Bronze Horseman!! It’s so good!! I think you’d really like it. x
You need to read The Red Scrolls of Magic (MALEC CONTENT) and Red, White and Royal Blue ASAP. I’m so jealous of you getting special edition of The Red Scrolls of Magic.
Sea of Ruins on my TBR as well!! it looks so good and pirate books are the best!
Hahaha yes agreed!
Well then, I have actually read two of these. The Nightingale is a book that will stay with me forever. I am getting the feels right now, and cue the tears! It was a remarkable portrait of human resilience.
I truly hope to read it one day Sam!
I need to read Sea of Ruin and The Bronze Horseman too. Buddy read!
OK deal! In January? Which one?
Maybe Sea of Ruin (as January is dull enough as it is without sobbing our hearts out reading The Bronze Horseman!!!)
Red, White and Royal Blue and Red Scrolls of Magic are also on my tbr!
They are so promising!
Okay, I’m a bit in the minority with one of these. If I had to say which to start with, I’d say Sea of Ruin. It was AMAZING. The Bronze Horseman was awesome too. The Nightengale is on my list too. My Mom loved it. I’ve got the audiobook. Now, for the odd man out one. I listened to Red, White and Royal Blue and perhaps that was the problem. but I didn’t love it. It was just okay for me. I love MM romances so that wasn’t the issue. It just didn’t resonate with me. Like I said, perhaps the audio wasn’t the right way to go with it??? Maybe my mood?? Dunno
I know I have to read Sea of Ruin LOL And so far I am enjoying the audio of Red White and Royal blue so …fingers crossed!
I hope you will still read them sometime soon!
It was hard to narrow this list down to five haha!

Great list! I’ve only read Red, White and Royal Blue myself, but it’s one of my absolute favorites (I already re-read it twice 🙂 ) so I hope you’ll enjoy it too! The Nightingale is still on my TBR as well, it’s indeed so intimidating!
I am at the beginning of Red White and Royal red when they crashed the cake and he is back for a damage control mission but I already love it Lindsey! Snickering :-)))
