Hi dear friends,

Today’s Top 5 Tuesday is around books I predict will be 5 stars read.

This weekly meme hosted by Shanah @bionicbookworm has always very interesting topics! I will go back to this post by the end of the year just to check if my predictions were accurate 😉

So let’s this how begin!

Queen of Air and Darkness by Cassandra Clare

I’m a die-hard fan of Cassie’s books but this series The Dark Artifices has really stolen my heart and my breath! The cliffhanger was monstrous really and I can’t wait to read this one!

Synopsis

Dark secrets and forbidden love threaten the very survival of the Shadowhunters in Cassandra Clare’s Queen of Air and Darkness, the final novel in the #1 New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling The Dark Artifices trilogy.

What if damnation is the price of true love?

Innocent blood has been spilled on the steps of the Council Hall, the sacred stronghold of the Shadowhunters. In the wake of the tragic death of Livia Blackthorn, the Clave teeters on the brink of civil war. One fragment of the Blackthorn family flees to Los Angeles, seeking to discover the source of the blight that is destroying the race of warlocks.

Meanwhile, Julian and Emma take desperate measures to put their forbidden love aside and undertake a perilous mission to Faerie to retrieve the Black Volume of the Dead. What they find in the Courts is a secret that may tear the Shadow World asunder and open a dark path into a future they could never have imagined. Caught in a race against time, Emma and Julian must save the world of Shadowhunters before the deadly power of the parabatai curse destroys them and everyone they love.

Bright we Burn by Kiersten White

I love Lada with a devouring passion! She is such an unconventional heroine! She is brave and determined. She will forge her own destiny and not wait on the sideline. This story has fantastic characters even if I despise Mehmet as I think he is hurting Lada time and again!

Synopsis

Haunted by the sacrifices he made in Constantinople, Radu is called back to the new capital. Mehmed is building an empire, becoming the sultan his people need. But Mehmed has a secret: as emperor, he is more powerful than ever . . . and desperately lonely. Does this mean Radu can finally have more with Mehmed . . . and would he even want it?

Lada’s rule of absolute justice has created a Wallachia free of crime. But Lada won’t rest until everyone knows that her country’s borders are inviolable. Determined to send a message of defiance, she has the bodies of Mehmed’s peace envoy delivered to him, leaving Radu and Mehmed with no choice. If Lada is allowed to continue, only death will prosper. They must go to war against the girl prince.

But Mehmed knows that he loves her. He understands her. She must lose to him so he can keep her safe. Radu alone fears that they are underestimating his sister’s indomitable will. Only by destroying everything that came before–including her relationships–can Lada truly build the country she wants.

Claim the throne. Demand the crown. Rule the world.

Kingdom of Ashes by Sarah J Maas

Of course I’m awaiting A Court of Frost and Starlight with great expectations but above all else I want to know what fate awaits Aelin! This is the last book of the series for crying out loud!

Synopsis

The Final installment to the Throne of Glass series.

Captured by the Queen of the Fae, Aelin is trapped inside an iron box in a secret location, with seemingly no hope for escape. As she endures months of torture, her friends scatter to different fates. Without Aelin to protect them, soldier Aedion and shapeshifter Lysandra need to defend their homeland at all costs. Also left to forge their own paths in order to change history are Chaol, the witch Manon, and the golden boy Dorian-while Aelin’s mate, the fae male Rowan, searches the world over for his lost love.

As Aelin gathers the strength to save herself and fight the ultimate battle of her life, all of their destinies hang in the balance. Some ties will bond even tighter together, others will be severed forever, and mysteries will be revealed in this action-packed, heart wrenching series finale.

War Storm by Victoria Aveyard

OK this one is a wish as I loved the first book did not like the second so much (I called it a “transition” book) but the third made me a fan again. And honestly, with such synopsis how can I not expect it to be fantastic?

Synopsis

VICTORY COMES AT A PRICE.

Mare Barrow learned this all too well when Cal’s betrayal nearly destroyed her. Now determined to protect her heart—and secure freedom for Reds and newbloods like her—Mare resolves to overthrow the kingdom of Norta once and for all… starting with the crown on Maven’s head.

But no battle is won alone, and before the Reds may rise as one, Mare must side with the boy who broke her heart in order to defeat the boy who almost broke her. Cal’s powerful Silver allies, alongside Mare and the Scarlet Guard, prove a formidable force. But Maven is driven by an obsession so deep, he will stop at nothing to have Mare as his own again, even if it means demolishing everything—and everyone—in his path.

War is coming, and all Mare has fought for hangs in the balance. Will victory be enough to topple the Silver kingdoms? Or will the little lightning girl be forever silenced?

In the epic conclusion to Victoria Aveyard’s stunning series, Mare must embrace her fate and summon all her power… for all will be tested, but not all will survive.

Us Against You by Fredrik Backman

I discovered this writer with Beartown and it’s been my second best read of 2017. Now I really can’t wait for this one that is already pre ordered!

Synopsis

After everything that the citizens of Beartown have gone through, they are struck yet another blow when they hear that their beloved local hockey team will soon be disbanded. What makes it worse is the obvious satisfaction that all the former Beartown players, who now play for a rival team in Hed, take in that fact. Amidst the mounting tension between the two rivals, a surprising newcomer is handpicked to be Beartown’s new hockey coach.

Soon a new team starts to take shape around Amat, the fastest player you’ll ever see; Benji, the intense lone wolf; and Vidar, a born-to-be-bad troublemaker. But bringing this team together proves to be a challenge as old bonds are broken, new ones are formed, and the enmity with Hed grows more and more acute.

As the big match approaches, the not-so-innocent pranks and incidents between the communities pile up and their mutual contempt grows deeper. By the time the last game is finally played, a resident of Beartown will be dead, and the people of both towns will be forced to wonder if, after all they’ve been through, the game they love can ever return to something simple and innocent.

Now do tell me what are your 5 stars predictions for 2018?

Thanks for reading!

Sophie

  2. aaaahhh I had the same feeling for RQ series. I adore RQ I thought it was gonna be my fav series, then GS make me want to punch Mare in the face and be done with this series, and then KG pulls me back in, I want to read WS just to make sure whether I actually like this series or not

  3. I heard there were cliffhangers in TDA, so while I have the first two, I’m yet to read them!! I’m also looking forward to War Storm, but I’m also dubious about the 5-Starness of it! I loved Red Queen, the second was ok, but I didn’t like King’s Cage. Isn’t that funny?! But definitely bring on ACOFAS and Kingdom of Ash!!! SQUEEEEEEEEE!!!

    1. Hahaha you are wise to wait for the whole trilogy to be published in TDA as the cliffhangers are unbearable!!!

  4. Fantastic list! So excited for Kingdom of Ash!!! And Bright we Burn looks amazing! I have yet to read a novel from her but I have one on my TBR. Hopefully soon!!
Thanks for participating – added you to the list 🙂

    1. Exactly Camilla! He has so much tructh in his words. Each character could be your neighbor and the plot is simple but the book is “human”. I have no other words…

  5. I’ve been meaning to read Beartown!! I didn’t know that a sequel was coming! I need to get on reading them both! I predict that Beartown will be a 5-star read for me!!! Also, I’ve been meaning to start Cassandra Clare’s work for a long time!!
